The best salespeople aren't always the ones with degrees from prestigious colleges, according to staffing research company data.
In fact, employee data analytics proved that some of the common beliefs at one company were completely wrong, according to the analytics firm Bersin by Deloitte.
"Pedigreed college degrees and high grades have almost nothing to do with sales effectiveness and so they changed the way they sourced candidates and who they'd hire in their sales organization and had an enormous impact on their sales productivity," said Josh Bersin, founder of Bersin by Deloitte.
And companies implementing the most advanced, predictive analytics are seeing real results, according to Bersin. Those companies have outpaced the S&P 500 by 30 percent on average over the past three years, according to Bersin's data.
But in a survey of 435 companies, only 4 percent were using advanced analytics to try to predict the success of potential job candidates. Meanwhile 60 percent are still trying to clean up their employee and applicant data enough to analyze it, Bersin said.
