A job interview at any company can be intimidating, but some can last as long as 55 days, according to a recent survey.
The average interview process lasted 23 days, according to the study of 25 companies by Glassdoor, a job search site that surveys its users on their interview experiences. But the average interview process at Teach for America lasts 55 days, followed by 50 days at Procter & Gamble, according to Glassdoor.
"They have multiple rounds of interviews. Sometimes upwards of nine rounds of interviews for one candidate at these companies. Also candidates report going through and meeting with various people at various levels within the company, from potential teammates to executives," said Scott Dobroski, a Glassdoor spokesman.
Three of the top five companies on the list with the hardest interviewing processes were consulting companies: McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting and Bain & Company.
Job applicants at McKinsey, for example, undergo tough testing including written, personality and math tests, Dobroski noted.
Across the board, Glassdoor users have anonymously reported that difficult interviews involved real-world and case-based types of questions, Dobroski said.

"What's really interesting to see is that [in] 18 out of the 25 companies that made this list, employees say that they're satisfied or very satisfied in their jobs," Dobroski said.
