And our top trending ticker today, Carnival (CCL)

Shares of the cruise ship operator are plunging 5% as management cut full year forecasts after it was forced to decrease prices to attract passengers. The company also said it might lose money in the current quarter. Analysts had been expecting Carnival to make seven cents.

Carnival’s fortunes have been battered over the last few years starting with the sinking of it’s Costa Concordia in 2012. That disaster was followed last year by an on-board fire that disabled the engine on the Carnival Triumph, leaving passengers and crew stranded for nearly a week. Earlier this year a Princess cruise (a subsidiary of Carnival) was aborted after the highly contagious norovirus struck leaving 180 passengers with severe gastrointestinal illness.

That’s your trending ticker for today, we’ll see you here on Wednesday.
