Stocks ended the week on a down note, with the Dow snapping its longest weekly winning streak since last August. There was no specific news precipitating the drop. The only noteworthy economic report out today was wholesale inventories, which slipped 0.2% in June when expectations had been for a gain of 0.4%.

Blackberry (BBRY) rose more than 5% on a report that the company may be taken private. Reuters is reporting that BlackBerry CEO Thorsten Heins and the board are mulling over the idea so they could fix problems with the smartphone maker out of public view. The company released a pair of new handsets this year which were billed as BlackBerry's last chance at a turnaround. Sales for both devices have been lackluster at best. Reuters says a deal to take BlackBerry private is not imminent.
