Sprint Corp. officials aren't letting up on their effort to reduce costs. The Overland Park-based wireless carrier (NYSE: S) has moved aggressively toward a goal of reducing expenses by $2 billion this fiscal year — a goal officials said Sprint in on track to reach — after having cut more than $1 billion last fiscal year. The push to reduce expenses has caused the layoffs of a couple thousand employees, including more than 1,000 in the Kansas City area .
