Included are commitments to provide housing finance to employees and commitments accepted and cancelled in the same month. The commitment value for a contract of sale is the dwellings sale value less any deposit. The scope of the survey comprises the following types of lenders: banks, permanent building societies, credit unions/co-operative credit societies, life or general insurance companies, general government enterprises, superannuation funds, organisations raising funds through the secondary mortgage market for approved home buyers under State government housing schemes, other financial corporations registered under the Financial Corporations Act 1974 and other providers of consumer finance registered with State credit tribunals, including mortgage managers. COVERAGE: The statistics cover significant lenders only. Significant lenders are the largest lenders to individuals for the construction and purchase of owner-occupied dwellings.
