Consumer confidence reflects the current level of business activity and the level of activity that can be anticipated for the months ahead. Each months report indicates consumers assessment of the present employment situation, and future job expectations. Confidence is reported for the nations nine major regions, long before any geographical economic statistics become available. Confidence is also shown by age of household head and by income bracket. The publics expectations of inflation, interest rates, and stock market prices are also covered each month. The survey includes consumers buying intentions for cars, homes, and specific major appliances.
