Looks like revenue guidance will be a bit light, but earnings will be in range. I hope they don't hit CAMP on light satellite expectations again; as I mentioned last quarter, there's no way they should be judged on Satellite revenue, as that's now only 1/5 of company revenue.
Well still have 5000 shares of CAMP,20,000 shares of HLIT from 1999. Waiting to exhale on these 2 and move to the French Riviera, looking at Juan Le Penne or Ez or possibly VilleFranche Sur Mer.
OK, Nitacs, so all we have to do is wait for the next 3-5 years (based on your perception of Burdiek's outlook) and (essentially) we should all come out smellin' like roses, eh? Sounds good, I can wait. ;)
Sarge, nobody can predict with 100% certainty where any company will be 3-5 years from now! All I can say is that Burdiek has presented a solid outlook for Calamp's future growth in every conference call over the past several years; the stock has great fundamentals, as consensus reports on this company, and even juddy1, who is presently not too bullish, have indicated. That's all an investor can really go on - forget the hype or trash talk by those who just want the stock price to go up or down!
Well, I can't speak for Juddy1, (nor would I ever imply that I have his expertise) I'm just being a Machiavellian Realist. Let's face facts: Something's not right. This stock took off toward the moon only a short while ago, and suddenly fell over on its backsides. We need to understand "why that happened" if we are all going to make "sense" of Camp going forward. Is she a buyout candidate? Is she an "up and coming" major force in the "Internet of Everything?" Or, has Camp "screwed the pooch" for the next 3-5 years because of something we still don't know? Yeah, (for the moment) Camp's a "safe" company. She makes money. But how "safe" is she down the line? What's the deal? That's all I'm asking. I don't have the shares in Camp I used to (and that turned out to be a very good thing for me, personally) but I AM still "in," and I would like this stock to (at the very least) be back in the mid- twenties. (JMHO)
Nitacs, I am reacting to the way the stick has been behaving and the fact that estimates have been very average. I have high expectations and this company need to grow better and faster or else we will be sitting at $17 a year from now. Just being realistic as to prospects, a company like this should be trading at $25-30, not $16. Maybe I am being too pessimistic, let's reconvene after earnings and see what they say about prospects.
juddy1, for a guy who owns a lot of shares, you are sure negative on the company before the earnings are even announced! What's the deal?!!!
I could understand your rant if Burdiek announced poor earnings at the call tomorrow; but to be so negative on a call that hasn't even been announced yet is ludicrous!!!
And as far as the acquisition is concerned, Burdiek said in the last CC that Calamp will be very careful in purchasing companies that directly align with their own core objectives; they won't be buying companies just for the sake of buying companies. Keep in mind that most of Calamp's business is organic, which means they engineer a good share of their growth; Burdiek could be seeing this purchase as one that will align with multiple segments of Calamp's growing m2m/mrm segments. We're talking about new telematics technology here - please don't minimize its importance to the potential value to the company - why would you do such a thing, juddy1, especially if you own so many shares in the company.
My take is positive, I have noticed more then not when a stock is weaker then normal just before earnings, is more of a good sign not bad sign for earnings. Hence the insiders cant buy 30 days before positive earnings surprise because they could be called out on insider trading. Same would go for large block traders who are insiders. Same I have noticed works in reverse as well for example SNDK did not trade the week or 3 weeks before like anyone knew of the earnings issue before hand, I think it was the reverse scenario for this case. This is one of many examples I have noticed since I have been tracking this kind of movement on stocks I trade. I think there is lots of reasons this makes sense. Will see how this one works out tomorrow, im on the
positive side of this one before earnings. LADD
