  • Rand Paul Won't Publicly Say Why He Supports Mitch McConnell

The Huffington Post | by Samantha Lachman | 04/17/2014

THOUGH SEN. RAND PAUL (R-KY.) HAS ENDORSED HIS FELLOW SENATOR FROM THE BLUEGRASS STATE, HE DIDN'T SEEM COMFORTABLE ENOUGH AT A COMMUNITY FORUM TO EXPLAIN WHY.

Paul visited Edmonton, Ky. on Wednesday, where he was reportedly asked why he backed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who faces a tea party-favored primary challenger this year.

The Glasgow Daily Times noted the discussion between Paul and a constituent:

After addressing about 30 people who turned out to hear him, the senator opened the floor for questions.

One constituent asked him why he came out in support of Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Louisville.

Paul declined to answer the question publicly, saying he would speak with her in private and explain his reason for supporting the senior senator.
Paul has avoided giving a detailed explanation for his endorsement of McConnell in the past as well. In February, when talk show host Glenn Beck asked him the same question, Paul said simply, "Because he asked me. He asked me when there was nobody else in the race, and I said yes.”

Following the interview with Beck, Paul explained his support for McConnell in a statement to TPM. "Mitch McConnell is an important ally and a conservative voice in Washington for the people of Kentucky," Paul said. "The commonwealth is stronger because of his service and I look forward to continuing to work with him."

McConnell and Paul are assumed to have a marriage of convenience: Paul helps the more senior senator with his reelection battle in return for help seeking the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

  • Re: The “white supremacist” arrested for murdering three Jewish people in Kansas… was inspired by far-left anti-Semitic Israel-hater Max Blumenthal (a Democrat), belonged to the #$%$ (formed and populated by Democrats), ran for Congress as a Democrat in 2006, and has online postings where he rants about “the neo-con, war-mongering republican establishment.”

More willful pathetic dissembling and lack of integrity here, mark5. For one thing, when he rants about “the neo-con, war-mongering republican establishment" I am sure he sounds very similar to you RWNJs attacking your very same RINOs and moderate Republicans like Communist Jeb Bush, Charles Krauthammer, Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney (BTW, you may end up with him again in 2016).

Yes, mark5, if you are going to tell us all about how he "ran for Congress as a Democrat in 2006" at least get the details correct and also include the Republican part of the story, i.e. note that the below includes:

"During his time AS LEADER OF THE WHITE PATRIOT PARTY, HE UNSUCCESSFULLY SOUGHT BOTH THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S 1984 NOMINATION FOR GOVERNOR OF NORTH CAROLINA, AND THE 1986 REPUBLICAN PARTY'S NOMINATION FOR A SEAT IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE."

"IN 2006, MILLER RAN AS AN INDEPENDENT WRITE-IN CANDIDATE against Rep. Roy Blunt, in the 7th Congressional District of Missouri.[15] As a perennial candidate, HE RAN IN THE 2010 SENATE ELECTION IN MISSOURI, AGAIN AS AN INDEPENDENT WRITE-IN CANDIDATE."

You prove once again that you RWNJs are really destructive totally pathetic lying creeps willing to lie about and utterly distort anything in the service of the authoritarian far right wing of another organization you are also trying to destroy, i.e. the Republican Party.

    FRAZIER GLENN MILLER, JR.
    Born November 23, 1940 (age 73)
    North Carolina, United States

Frazier Glenn Miller, Jr. (b. Nov 23, 1940), commonly known as Glenn Miller, is A FORMER LEADER OF THE DEFUNCT NORTH CAROLINA-BASED WHITE PATRIOT PARTY (FORMERLY KNOWN AS THE CAROLINA KNIGHTS OF THE KU KLUX KLAN). CONVICTED OF CRIMINAL CHARGES RELATED TO WEAPONS AND VIOLATION OF AN INJUNCTION AGAINST PARAMILITARY ACTIVITY, HE HAS BEEN A PERENNIAL CANDIDATE[1] FOR PUBLIC OFFICE. HE IS AN ADVOCATE OF WHITE NATIONALISM, WHITE SEPARATISM, AND A PROPONENT OF ANTI-SEMITIC CONSPIRACY THEORIES. HE FOLLOWS ODINISM.

He is suspected of perpetrating the Overland Park Jewish Community Center shooting on April 13, 2014.

    EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Frazier Glenn Miller, Jr. was born Frazier Glenn Cross, Jr. in North Carolina, and named after his father. HE DROPPED OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, AND JOINED THE UNITED STATES ARMY AND SERVED IN THE SPECIAL FORCES. HE SERVED TWO TOURS OF DUTY IN SOUTH VIETNAM DURING THE VIETNAM WAR.[5] HE WAS DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY AS A SERGEANT IN 1979, FOR DISTRIBUTING RACIST PROPAGANDA.

IN 1980 HE FOUNDED THE WHITE PATRIOT PARTY, WHICH DEVELOPED FROM THE CAROLINA KNIGHTS OF THE KU KLUX KLAN, A LOCAL CHAPTER. HE WAS THE LEADER AND PRINCIPAL SPOKESMAN FOR THE ORGANIZATION UNTIL HIS ARREST IN 1987, AFTER WHICH THE ORGANIZATION SOON DISSOLVED.

After the Southern Poverty Law Center surreptitiously accessed the WPP computer systems, it presented evidence in court indicating the WPP leadership was planning the assassination of SPLC leader Morris Dees. The court issued an injunction barring the WPP from engaging in paramilitary activity. THE WPP WAS AVOWEDLY PRO-APARTHEID, AND OPENLY ADVOCATED THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AN ALL-WHITE ETHNOSTATE IN THE TERRITORY OF THE AMERICAN SOUTH.

DURING HIS TIME AS LEADER OF THE WPP, HE UNSUCCESSFULLY SOUGHT BOTH THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY'S 1984 NOMINATION FOR GOVERNOR OF NORTH CAROLINA, AND THE 1986 REPUBLICAN PARTY'S NOMINATION FOR A SEAT IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE.

Miller expressed open hatred for Jews repeatedly during an April 2010 interview with David Pakman on The David Pakman Show.

    ARREST AND CONVICTION

After going underground, Miller was arrested on April 30, 1987 in Ozark, Missouri, on numerous Federal criminal charges in the company of three other men (Tony Wydra, Robert "Jack" Jackson, and Douglas Sheets), who were also taken into Federal custody. After his arrest, Miller agreed to testify against several other defendants in a major Federal sedition trial in Arkansas. He served three years (1987-1990) in Federal prison, following his conviction for weapons violations, as well as for violating the injunction proscribing him from engaging in paramilitary activities.

    SUBSEQUENT ACTIVITIES

After his release from prison, Miller began trucking and wrote an autobiography, A White Man Speaks Out, which was privately published in 1999.[ By 2002 he had moved to Aurora, Missouri. WHEN HE RETIRED FROM TRUCKING IN 2002, HE TRIED TO REENTER THE WHITE SUPREMACIST MOVEMENT BY PUBLISHING A RACIST NEWSLETTER, HOWEVER THIS WAS MET WITH MIXED REACTION DUE TO SOME REGARDING HIM AS A TRAITOR. MILLER HAS SINCE BECOME AFFILIATED WITH THE VANGUARD NEWS NETWORK OF ALEX LINDER, WHICH IS AN ANTI-SEMITIC, WHITE NATIONALIST WEBSITE.

In 2006, Miller ran as an independent write-in candidate against Rep. Roy Blunt, in the 7th Congressional District of Missouri. As a perennial candidate, he ran in the 2010 Senate election in Missouri, again as an independent write-in candidate. Miller's 2010 radio campaign advertisements were controversial in Missouri, and nationally. People disputed whether Miller was a legitimate candidate or using his purported candidacy as a way to get air time, based on his comments on the website of the Vanguard News Network. He noted that "stations are required to run advertising for candidates" and that he would declare a candidacy and then start running ads. He said, 'Federal elections offer public speaking opportunities we can’t afford to pass up, and come only once every 2 years.'”

  • Honolulu Civil Beat | 4/17/2014

By turns a university professor, a wry observer, a recovering politician, a joke teller and a Southern preacher, Al Gore fired up an audience of thousands at the Stan Sheriff Center to believe that global warming can be stopped. But it’s possible only if each of us does our part.

“Ultimately, we are going to win this thing,” he said, one of many statements met with hearty applause.

He also managed to repeatedly gush over fellow Democrats Neil Abercrombie and Brian Schatz, who he singled out multiple times as leading the fight here at home and in Washington to tackle the environmental crisis head on. [...]

But Gore cited two “game changers” in recent years that will help. The first is the growing realization from even climate-change deniers that something seems to be strange with the weather. The second is the exponential growth in photovoltaic solar panels, driven largely by consumer demand for lower prices.

The “barriers” to doing something about climate change are business and political interests that profit off of fossil fuels — “dirty energy that causes dirty weather.” He compared fake science from polluters stating that humans are not to blame for the climate to tobacco companies that used to hire actors to play doctors who denied cigarettes were dangerous.

“That’s immoral, unethical and despicable,” he said of both.

Don't read the politics or only read who you like to read and what news do you expect 1 week after CC? Did you read the MIT review yesterday-look at pps today-no reason to believe we're not moving forward, next ACTC PR will be 4/29, 4/30 anything sooner will be from outsiders like MIT (which are the best ones). The SA author-he's a frustrated I,I,I poster-who can't uncover his bed let alone a substantiated story. The trick is not to own so much now that when you look at your portfolio the thousands ($$$$) in red make you sick. If you love it at .06-you'll adore it at .50 and buy on the way up.

  • Hear Ye, hear ye, Buba will soon be a gran' paw....a granddaughter perhaps?....that would be poetic justice. I hope he teaches her how to handle cohibas....hehehehehehe.

  • These idiots just can't get past their partisanship. They refuse to acknowledge the national debt, union and corporate bailouts, government entrenched institutions who are corrupt and circumvent the constitution; they ignore example after example throughout history which expose the failure of large federal programs to meet their stated goals...most often making the perceived problem worse, (ACA is most recent). They deny the impact of the Fed's manipulation of capital markets, the central banking system, and their "regulation" of the laws of supply and demand. They support a party who chooses winners and losers with executive orders, who buys votes through redistribution, who is at war with economic freedom, individual pursuits, and freedom of religion. Sure the Left would love to get their dirty little hands on the private sector investment liquidity, after all...."everyone made it"... not those who earned it or managed it. More socialist slime disguised as helping others.

nobeach, is this the part you are questioning?

".. REPUBLICANS PROMOTE POLICIES THAT TEND TO ENTRENCH POVERTY, AND OBESITY AND POVERTY OFTEN GO TOGETHER. THE REPUBLICAN-DOMINATED STATES WHERE OBESITY RATES ARE THE HIGHEST ARE STATES WHERE ONE IS MORE APT TO FIND MORE POVERTY, WEAK UNION PROTECTION, AN ABUNDANCE OF PEOPLE WHO LACK HEALTH INSURANCE AND A STRONG OPPOSITION TO THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT OF 2010.

The obesity epidemic in the U.S. can be attributed to a wide variety of factors—not only poverty, lack of health insurance and inadequate access to healthy food, but also everything from sedentary lifestyles to stress. Obesity can’t be blamed exclusively on the conservative policies; there is plenty of obesity in Philadelphia, Baltimore and other Democrat-dominated cities. But Gallup’s poll clearly demonstrates that obesity is widespread in red-state America, and GOP policies, from opposition to healthcare reform to union-busting to cutting food stamps, only exacerbate the problem. …"
