  • ISRAEL-GAZA CONFLICT: 50-DAY WAR BY NUMBERS

The latest conflict has left more than 2,200 people dead, mostly civilians

ELK, WHERE IS YOUR COMMON SENSE?

Any destruction and hardship suffered by those in Gaza they brought on themselves by starting the conflict in the first place and then continuing it. The Palestinians launched thousand of missiles into civilian parts of Israel causing much destruction and suffering there also. Do you understand that this missile attack was initiated and kept up by the Palestinians? Why did they do it? Easy answer is HATE. Now, should everyone feel sorry for the Palestinian aggressor because Israel retaliated in kind? I will try to make it easy for you to understand, elk. If the tough guy in your neighborhood gives you a good #$%$ whopping and you keep going back for more #$%$ whoppins, people will stop feeling sorry for you. You talk about ideology but can't see that you yourself have been thoroughly indoctrinated with leftwing propaganda. It is reflected in the C & P articles that you constantly post. I would hope those people in the Middle East would learn to live in accordance with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all but, it will never happen until they learn to be more civilized and tolerant.

  • EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT RESOLUTION ON RECOGNITION OF PALESTINE STATEHOOD
    PLENARY SESSION

    Press release - External relations − 17-12-2014 - 13:16

The European Parliament supports "in principle recognition of Palestinian statehood and the two state solution, and believes these should go hand in hand with the development of peace talks, which should be advanced", it says in a resolution passed on Wednesday. To support EU diplomatic efforts in the Middle East peace process, it also decided to launch a “Parliamentarians for Peace” initiative to bring together MEPs and MPs from the Israeli and Palestinian parliaments.

The resolution was drawn up by five political groups and passed by Parliament as a whole, by 498 votes to 88, with 111 abstentions.

Parliament reiterates "its STRONG SUPPORT FOR THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION ON THE BASIS OF THE 1967 BORDERS, WITH JERUSALEM AS THE CAPITAL OF BOTH STATES, WITH THE SECURE STATE OF ISRAEL AND AN INDEPENDENT, DEMOCRATIC, CONTIGUOUS AND VIABLE PALESTINIAN STATE LIVING SIDE BY SIDE IN PEACE AND SECURITY ON THE BASIS OF THE RIGHT OF SELF-DETERMINATION AND FULL RESPECT OF INTERNATIONAL LAW". MEPs also condemn in the strongest terms all acts of terrorism or violence.

PALESTINIAN FACTIONS URGED TO END INTERNAL DIVISIONS

MEPs stress the importance of consolidating the authority of the Palestinian consensus government and urge all Palestinian factions, including Hamas, to end internal divisions.

    ILLEGAL SETTLEMENTS

The resolution reiterates that Israeli settlements are illegal under international law, calls on the EU to become a genuine facilitator in the Middle East peace process and asks the EU’s foreign policy High Representative to facilitate a common EU position to this end.

BRINGING TOGETHER MPS FROM BOTH SIDES

MEPs decided to launch a “Parliamentarians for Peace” initiative to bring together MEPs and members of Israeli and Palestinian Parliaments, to help advance an agenda for peace and to complement EU diplomatic efforts.

    The guy is an idiot!

  • Real torture,, I grew up with mafia guys in WV and the old school,, not that I participated,, and it is the survival of the fittest by the way,, it's a way of life,, just like capitalism,, suck it up Elkfknose,, BTW, I posted that just to ps you off and it worked,, and 2nd BTW, you get smarter when you are psed instead of pasting garbage and I like that,, really though, peace brother,,
    C..
3rdBTW,, I prefer peace but that is never going to happen in mankind,, so again, survival of the fittest,,
    2nd C

  • Re: "Well now,, the Palestinian's launch attacks to Israel and Israel retaliates …"

Another classic, obumdopesheit. Yes, of course, everyone knows that Israel never did the slightest aggressive or mean or nasty or even emotionally hurtful thing, or even swore at or insulted anyone or any nation during the past 60 years, especially not the Gazans, and certainly never, ever did anything that could be called a military action, except in total self defense.

  • Re: ".. I cannot believe you posted this whole moose dump and defend the little guy that starts the whole thing in the first place because of greed,, are you a rac//*st Elk .. "

In other words, obumdopesheit, you don't care, and don't even want to pretend that you care, whether or not Israel is running Gaza as an incredibly large open air prison wherein they impose tremendous suffering mostly on civilians including mostly women and children, almost at the level of what Hitler's henchmen imposed on the German Jews.

And again for no real or objective reason you are quite happy to call the victims "the little guy that starts the whole thing in the first place because of greed." Where do you get off accusing the Gazans of starting the whole thing, and because of greed? Most of the Gazans are civilians who want nothing to do with any of it and just want to have some kind of normal family life. Just like most Iraqis or Afghanis, who also were imposed upon by Bigger Authoritarian Military Powers of various kinds.

Why do you have to refer to the "little guy" who "starts the whole thing" out of "greed?" How do you convince yourself that such a perception of Gazans has any legitimacy or accuracy?

Could it be that you have to chronically see yourself being on the side of the "BIG GUY", even if he is, or maybe because he is, the BIG AUTHORITARIAN BRUTAL TOUGH GUY? Is the notion of the BIG GUY so comforting to you that it is also ok if he tortures, something you seem at pains to proudly defend on this MB.

Is this why you are basically and chronically contemptuous of the "little guy" in our society (lest any "little guy" notion rub off on you) who is really getting very little from our society while at the same time you are a total wide open major throat jammed suck up and obeisant panderer in constant curtsy to the psychopathic "BIG GUYS" in our society who are robbing our country blind?

Yes, of course, it is easier to see oneself kissing the ASS of a BIG AUTHORITARIAN BRUTAL TOUGH GUY (and getting his favors) than kissing the ass of a little weak guy. On the other hand that would mean acceptance of the idea that you indeed have to kiss some protector's ass. Maybe you should reconsider?

And BTW, obumdope, you have no idea what real torture is.

Blue,, I have never turned away a sick person who has need help based on their ability to pay,, Many of my patients are like what you described and I even give them food and clothing that we keep in our office,, My son will go out and shoot deer and we get them processed for them to eat,, I too have been to rehab and I fully understand about addiction and have been in recovery for several years,, that pain has made me a stronger and better person,, I help people,, that is what the GOD of my understanding put me in this current life for,, I suspect my next life will be much the same, but, I hope without so much pain, as it were,,
I commend you for what you so for folks!! You are very kind!!

Well this is certainly you, obumdope, always siding with the Authoritarian Military power and you could care whether they are racist or not (much easier of course to call me a racist than Israel, for you anyway) or right or wrong or whether they needlessly and stupidly spread vast suffering. No, doesn't matter to you as long as you can, in the comfort of your cushioned swiveling computer desk rocking chair, fantasize that you too are one of those Authoritarian "bring 'em on W" Tough Guys who by being so Tough saves the world like MacGruber.

It is truly amazing that you really pride yourself on being a real live MacGruber.

Well, bum, it is good to hear your posts are just put ons and not genuine. If they were genuine that would mean you are too often genuinely loathsome and repugnant.

ISRAEL-GAZA CONFLICT: 50-DAY WAR BY NUMBERS

The latest conflict has left more than 2,200 people dead, mostly civilians

    LIZZIE DEARDEN | The Independent | 27 August 2014

As discussions for a long-term truce between Israel and Hamas continue in Cairo, Gaza is picking up the pieces of a 50-day war that left more than 2,200 people dead.

People are beginning to leave refugee camps and UN shelters amid hopes that a ceasefire declared yesterday will hold but many have no home to return to.

More than 20,000 homes are estimated to have been rendered uninhabitable by shelling and air strikes that the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) claimed targeted only “terrorist” sites used by Hamas for military purposes.

Just a day before the peace deal was struck, bombing toppled one of Gaza’s tallest buildings, the 15-storey Basha Tower full of apartments and offices, after days of strikes against shopping complexes and high rises.

The UN estimates that more than 20,000 homes have been reduced to rubble or rendered uninhabitable and workers are racing to avert humanitarian crisis by fixing damaged water mains and power lines.

According to the United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA), more than 300,000 Gazans had been sheltering in its schools on Tuesday and up to 500,000 people have been displaced by the conflict.

Pierre Krähenbühl, UNRWA Commissioner-General, appealed for £178 million ($295 million) of international aid towards its recovery operations.

He said: “During a week when children should have been starting their new school year, they are instead facing prolonged insecurity, fear and suffering.

“To make matters worse, the extensive destruction caused by the conflict means that many Palestinians will have no home to return to once hostilities have ended.

“Many will face a harsh winter in emergency shelters.”

Palestinian health officials say 2,139 people, most of them civilians, including more than 490 children, have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched Operation Protective Edge on 8 July.

Israel's death toll stands at 64 soldiers and six civilians, including a four-year-old boy who died after a Hamas rocket hit a house in Eshkol.

The IDF claimed more than 3,700 rockets had been fired towards Israel by 20 August and it had destroyed 32 Hamas tunnels and killed 750 alleged militants and commanders.

    2014 GAZA WAR BY NUMBERS:

    Palestinians killed: 2,139

    Palestinian children killed: 490

    Israeli soldiers killed: 64

    Israeli civilians killed: 6

    Israeli children killed: 1

    Palestinians wounded: 11,000

    Palestinian children wounded: 3,000

Gaza residents displaced: Up to 500,000

    Homes destroyed in Gaza: 20,000

Hey doc, My father was a Presbyterian minister until 1975 and after we all became United Methodists. The church I belong to now is a very loose knit group of believers who feel the call to work in street and community outreach. We are called The Beautiful Mess and we meet in the Eugene Evangelical Church on Sunday evenings for service. (We were actually able to move out of the basement up into the sanctuary of our wonderful hosts), We are nondenominational and all are always welcome. The preacher that someone called, Nathan, has left us to go back to seminary school in Austin Texas. We miss him but our leadership now is just as great and Christ centered. I think the main difference between us and traditional church's is our openness. We don't judge someone for drug or alcohol use as long as they are actively seeking the Lord. Many in our congregation use MJ as a sacrament but never actually in church. As for the occasional visitor that may be intoxicated at our service, we have a wonderful organization we partner with called "Cahoots" which is a group of paid EMT's and counselors that are an alternative to the police. They will handle these incidents with tact and compassion, with the subject often going to rehab rather than the psych ward or jail. The word on the street is that we are THE church to come to if you are homeless, hungry and/or spiritually hurting. Over and over again, we here from visitors and members how other churches have asked to leave because they smell bad or are wearing the wrong clothes. We will never knowingly turn away any soul who is seeking Christ. Thanks for your interest, doc. You are a good man, my friend.

  • Again, no idea what your point could be elk. How would the recognition of a Palestinian state, with no change in the status quo, improve the situation? I'd argue it would make things far worse.

  • And I also suppose that you believe that tor^ure does not happen between those two,, Like they are nice and give them a bath or don't let them take a nap,, right,,
    C

  • Well now,, the Palestinian's launch attacks to Israel and Israel retaliates,, it's not their fought that the Palestinians don't have the state of the art bombs,, tough cow cookies,, and I cannot believe you posted this whole moose dump and defend the little guy that starts the whole thing in the first place because of greed,, are you a rac//*st Elk,,

Blue - you tried. The other person has to reach out half way and be polite too. You can only control your actions, and hate is not a good thing to carry around. I had to learn that long ago. It is very difficult to understand that each one of us lives in their own realities, and we most times don't understand each other as well as we like to think we do.

    I wish you well.

Well, I tried. You have apparently decided to sit in judgment of me. There is only one Judgment that matters, the Lord's. I confessed to you that I didn't really know who called, and you continue to insist I am not telling the Truth. That is your burden now, I have been freed of the weight I carried around, the disgust and resentment I felt for you have been lifted and is gone. Then your pontification continued with telling me to beware of the sins of the flesh. I must assume you are referring to my use of MMJ, because I don't drink, smoke, gamble or commit adultery,
You have also called me a liar because of a neurological disease I have called CMT. You have also called me a liar when I revealed I was a co-owner in a cannabis testing lab. It seems everything that is the Truth gets construed into a lies and deceit when it is heard by your ears. That is a shame. But I will not judge you, that is for the Lord to do. I pray that you will be able to accept the TRUTH, but if not, my conscious is clear. Peace and Love be with you, brother.
