Best in Breed is NKE hands down, but the growth play could be UA. But 89X E right now. I am worried about a sell-off, plus NKE is splitting. Thoughts from the Board?
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I a long term investor and just picked this up about a month and a half ago. Wish my timing was always so good. Long term there isn't a bad time to buy this stock. Their story through 2020 looks incredibly strong. I'm looking forward to ridding this stock for a long time.
Some of Cramer's thoughts on today's action:
"With all of the events on Thursday, Cramer recommended for investors to sit tight. He can't blame anyone for taking action but reminded investors that the selling will always eventually stop."
Many don't agree with him, but I share his last thought, namely, "the selling will always eventually stop".
When they say its overvalued they are tailing about the price to earnings ratio. It doesn't matter if there is a split…the ratio won't change. You should read into this principle if you r investing your own money. GL
Please let me know if my logic is off or not. I keep reading people saying that NIKE is overvalued right now. But the stock is going to split sometime soon. So doesnt that mean that you are essentially buying it for under 70 bucks if you were to buy it now? I am not trying to be rude I am just asking if my logic is right. Or is there something I am missing? Please let me know, thank you
history would suggest this is a huge waste of cashflow.....executives at Nike are very good but they are not making this decision...bankers and board are....
Lol right, great strategy. After the stock split this will make its way back to a $100, now it becomes cheaper to purchase more shares and is far more attractive than a $134 a share. Do your research, historically Nike always trades back to a $100. Check 2012, are you not looking how well ran they ate and how they meet and exceed their own.expectations year after year. Go right ahead tho, don't usually post on this board but had to drop in, I've been accumulating Nike since I was 18, now 31 and it's funny how many times I've read things like this, or.ridiculous posts. This company is firing on all.cylindersx their masters of the fitness and sports industry! Wrong company to bet against, Nike.is also a very good sign that the consumer is well and alive. Lower fuel prices will benefit this.company in ways even wall street can't believe,it will be a Nike Christmas and another tremendous olympics for them.
Lol I wouldn't question a group of executives of this caliber. This is the absolute most exceptional ran company in the world, they probably find it undervalued still here. This will not only be am enormous nike Christmas, also with the Olympics approaching, they know sales and profits will be very robust..clearly nike is dominating, under Armour and adidas can't innovate like Nike and they know it. This is a global iconic brand now, they practically outperformed in every country this last quarter. Mark Parker is just now getting the recognition he deserves, but if you look at the time since he's taken over this company, the growth has been explosive. They've been crushing expectations year after year, so sorry pal the word stupid and Nike management doesn't belong in the same sentence. Nice try though.
X-dividend date is usually 2 days before record date, so 12/7/2015.
If you buy NKE before 4:00 PM EST on 12/4/2015 (Friday) then you will get the "100 percent stock dividend payable on December 23, 2015".
The "When Issued" shares (WI) may start to trade on 12/7/2015 at 1/2 the current price per share.
The 2 for 1 stock split, 14% increase in the dividend, and $12 BILLION more share buy-back (after the current $8 BILLION buy-back is completed in 2015) should all be good for the stock price.
Shorts will be running for the exit.
"The Board of Directors also approved a two-for-one split of both NIKE’s Class A and Class B Common shares. The stock split will be in the form of a 100 percent stock dividend payable on December 23, 2015 to shareholders of record at the close of business December 9, 2015."
Do you have to have the stock for a certain amount of time to benefit from the split? Or can i buy tomorrow and benefit from the split on 12 23 15
Another breakout here today on NKE, surpassing the 52wk high from Oct 19.

Opinion : Bullish above USD 133.3
Target price : USD 138 Potential: 4.18%
Stop loss: USD 131.9
Nike wins almost 38% ytd, near its October highs (USD 133.5). Regarding the group's fundamental, first we note the increase in sales recorded in the prior year to USD 30 billion (that is to say 10%). Net earnings per share for 2015 also increased by 20% to USD 3.70. The analyst consensus following this share also remains confident with an average target price of USD 141. Graphically, the stock seems able to continue its upward trend thanks to well-oriented moving averages, and will test soon the USD 133.2 medium term resistance. Considering all these encouraging developments, above USD 133.21, a buy signal will be given. The main objective will be the testing the trendline at USD 138. Nevertheless a stop loss will be placed below USD 133.
Company with a Billion in yearly revenues "packing it up"...I dont think so. get in at these undervalued prices.
You are correct, but in addition to that by lowering the share price it creates an opportunity for individual investors to get into the stock that would not do so otherwise. And statistically we will get a little more bounce!
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Nike plans to do 50b in sales a year after the next 5 years. if this is the case..... Nike share prices will be worth well over 200.
Great buy. Good luck all longs.
