Find me a company with a PEG of 1 or under and I'll show you a company that has skeletons in the closet. NOTHING is that cheap right now.
Cheap's not the right word but you pay a premium for a premium company.
30x trailing earnings is quite reasonable for a company like Nike with such a strong balance sheet and good growth opportunities.
Nice! That's pretty awesome, great company to work for I bet. NFL deal is massive for them and NBA. Domestic sales should be significantly higher this year. I think we'll see the impact in the 4th quarter..NBA is really making a big push in India. With the huge population and a growing economy , they say basketball is becoming increasingly popular. That's something a lot of the analysts haven't mentioned recently either, that could be a huge surprise in the numbers.
Plus last year they locked up the huge NFL deal. My son is an executive at NKE
Lol, your valuation is terrible. I've heard this same noise for years, as it's doubled, tripled, quadrupuled over the years, when people would state irrevelant facts about valuation and say they won't be able to grow into it if ..they work on a 39.2 percent margin, have the best athletes I'm the world, including the soon to be finals Mvp in Lebron, you don't think him bringing a champion to Cleveland won't be a mega revenue boost, they also jusy signed an 8 year deal to now design and sponsor the NBA jerseys and apparel, they always get a nice boost from the olympics, their the leaders in innovation, they will still benefit from the weak dollar, China is starting to recover, Nike has a very strong presence there. I can go all night but I'd rather not lol..you really should fully comprehend the dynamics of this company before you state facts like that..see you at $125 sport lol. Good luck on the short side if that's your strategy because you're gonna need lots of it, this company is a growth machine!
Last night was a prime example of their incompetence. At critical times at the end of the game, the King was HACKED across the arm going in for a lay-up, while the ref only a few steps away, did nothing. Then he was fouled twice driving in again and they blew it again. These bums couldn't ref an 8th grade girls team. The Commissioner should get off his duff and do something about these lamebrains. i know it's exciting to see 3 steps off the dribble and seeing a monster dunk, but that's traveling every time....
Brian Baldinger (Baldy) is a former NFL lineman and present day analyst. He does some talk radio in the philly area from time to time. He bet 5K with another talking head that Tiger would never win another major. I assume that if the bet holds up it won't be paid.
A few years ago, i bet a customer/golfer/Tiger fan 25 bucks that he wouldn't win a Major in the next two years. i won the bet. The poor guy has lost his way in more things than golf....
so NKE should be growing 29% year over year to justify this price.
Of course due to being on the dow and big brand recognition maybe it should be growing 19% is it growing 19% ? i SEE IT GOWING 10% MAX AND i DON'T THINK YOU WILL SEE 10% THIS quarter so upside is nil but downside is huge imo...
about their iphones now and yoga pants maybe !
(CHECK ZUMZ I dare you)
Retail spending is falling and inte rest rates are rising at the same time
young people are not spen ding as they have no money left after paying their cellphone bills and they are not interested in clothing that's why all the teen retailers are tanking like aero postale Gap, etc,
And did you hear that a record number of HELOCS are res etting that is after 10 years of 0 interest payments on home improvrement loans, this year mil lions of people will have to pay back the Principle and stop bor rowing from their revolving line of credit !!
this comb ined with hig her interest rates is going to impact retail spending in a big way this year do you
True story: in 1971, I started running to get in shape for (believe it or not) table tennis. Needed some good running shoes and someone told me about a guy who was selling Onitsuka Tigers out of his spare bedroom in his apartment just south of Hayward Field near the University of Oregon campus. Went over there and bought a pair of electric blue shoes from this guy. To this day, I wonder if that guy was Phil Knight back when Nike was "Blue Ribbon Sports". Probably not, but it was one of the early Nike guys - maybe Jeff Johnson. (Started running up to Hendricks Park (it's on a hill near campus) every day and got in good enough shape to stay on the table with those Chinese guys who were running me all around. Became one of the better players in Oregon ... that and a buck or so would have gotten me a cup o' coffee back then.)
That's pretty awesome! Yeah I'm sure that helped out for sure haha. So you've had this since the Phil Knight days. He was pretty bold and it's always paid off for the company. Betting big on Jordan, Lebron, Woods, Kobe. Mark Parker has done an exceptional job I feel, I've always felt confident under his leadership. I have this in my Ira, I'm 31 so I'm banking on this..I think you're right, definitely a blue chip and still offers significant upside each year.
Yeah, these clowns are pretty funny. I've been buying this stock for years (1998 or so) and have a nice position somewhere around $20 per share. Of course, it helped that my wife worked there for several years (what a cool campus). To me, it's a blue chip buy and hold - maybe even through our retirement years.
