Arnold, send me your email address so we can get our bet going. Come on, buddy, put up or shut up. You say bankruptcy next year and I say no way. Let's do it. I've got a put to sell - should be easy money for you.
The oversupply in the LED and Polysilicon space did exist. It is rapidly being "worked off". Small players have been absorbed or gone out of business. The big players (GTAT's primary client's) are doing just fine and running out of supply and at full capacity. Hence the recovery and looming CAPEX cycle. That is the reality.
Horse's mouth. GTAT IR confirmed this over the phone with me last week. That said...
Just because they don't MAKE a product like Ion Glass, does not mean that Apple isn't using Sapphire in its production. It simply means that GTAT has confirmed that they're not manufacturing the screens themselves. Likewise, per my conversation I am pretty sure that if Apple IS using sapphire in the production process that GTAT does not know about it (or is playing dumb).
Ok. Let me get this straight.... You thought it was going to 9 because capitulation had yet to occur. When it was explained to you that you are wrong, you now come back looking at revenue "since then" and believe it is now headed towards 6?
Do yourself a favor and stop typing, right now. This is your only warning and then I start to play with you.
First of all, I dunno where Arnold Shortz got this quote, but given your response, I'm assuming it is accurate. Secondly, I'm not jumping on the short bandwagon, but is it "standard contract disclosure" to list how much trouble you company COULD be in if it's not really in trouble. I know the most current guidance has not been updated, but I was not aware of a serious backlog of materials in the no-sapphire space. That can't be GOOD can it?
All good question.
I don't think guidance had sapphire screens baked in.
I don't think Apple was going FULL sapphire on all Iphones. I think it's strongly possible they wanted or want to have an Iphone 6s with a sapphire screen for the refresh. I'm betting at this point that the Iphone 6 refresh will all have sapphire screens and perhaps even SOLAR.
Again though, I don't think the revenue adds up FULL on sapphire on the Iphone.
They were only going to put it on one version of the phone OR he gave low ball guidance and wanted to blow us all away with monumental news of a sapphire phone. However, it just seems like they were cutting it too close to the launch date to make that all.
Apple will continue buying GTAT sapphire for the Iphone 6 refresh with sapphire screens, home buttons, and camera lenses, and perhaps other unknown Apple products.
Forsooth, I find your application of the term "begone" quite satisfying, my lord!
Whatever you say chumpety chump. By all means short away.
On Q2 call, TG provided Q4 guidance of $400m and 2014 guidance of 600 - 700 m (lowered from 600 - 800m). Can anyone speak to what extent sapphire screens were baked into those numbers (if at all)? In other words, did GT's projected revenue assume the iPhone 6 would have sapphire screens?
Some have argued (Matt who?) that plans to include the screens were dropped late in the game due to production or performance problems and Apple called an audible to go with ION-X. That would strongly suggest that revenue guidance assumed sapphire screens on the iPhone and I would think GT would have to lower guidance further to reflect the revenue loss. I'm long, but worried about this prospect. Can anyone shed light or thoughts that are "FUD" free?
Sentiment: Strong Buy
The apple deal is structured as prepayments. You posted this long story but I don't think you read the actual deal
Why is this POS has such a high valuation??? Heading lower long losers...
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Looking at the revenues that they produced since then, YES MUCH LOWER. Like $6 or $7. And no matter what you say this POS is headed to single digits. So start drilling a new one. LOL
Sentiment: Strong Sell
I really really hope that once the iphone6 is out and tear down analysis is done it turns out that the screen infact is from GTAT!! Thats it then....All my october options will suddenly turn into Gold!
Good article and the screen on the iphone 6s are still a secret. No one really knows what it's made of.
Exactly. GT or any company couldn't get things going in a timely and efficient manner if they had no idea about what to expect and when and people who somehow have come to the conclusion that GT was so in the dark about things as late as last month when they gave their guidance don't know anything about business. Obviously there will always be unknowns that could change things, but to believe that they had no idea about what and how much they will have to supply out of the plant in Arizona, because they didn't even know whether or not sapphire glass will be used in the iPhone 6 and on what parts is patently ridiculous. If Apple kept them in the dark they would not be able to provide them with the kind of service that Apple expects. Just because we investors have been in the dark until recently is no reason to think that GTAT didn't know what was going on and give guidance accordingly in the last earnings call. The things that are unknown of course is what the demand will be for the sapphire containing parts that Apple does need, because that is consumer driven.
Nice try Dumberson, but you specifically threw a jab in my direction right in your reply to me above. If you can't handle the truth coming back at you then don't get into a #$%$ contest. Longs on this board know how F.O.S you are. Newbies will learn provided you don't continue the practice of deleting all your posts. We can continue to expect your opinion to shift day to day as you jump in and out of the stock. You commentary is completely worthless and entirely self serving,
This is from a year ago when polysilicon and LED bottomed. A lot changes in 1 year. New CAPEX cycles begin. Polysilicon and LED are in recovery mode. Disclosures from last year have no bearing on what they will do in the latter half of this year, next year, or in 2016. Do you also want to quote 10Qs from 5 years ago too?
We all know. It's a standard contract disclosure. Everyone uses these in business. Your point, if there is one, is meaningless.
