and another thing i never understood bout VMW, retail investors, go to any other high flyin stock like this is supposed to be and you see posters on their sites daily, this board has always sucked
the market mite b different but concept is still same, buy buy buy on speculation, VMW from day 1 was the 800lb gorilla in virtualization . has low float, should be trading much higher imo
if i may say this is a very different market than back in 2008. PLCN and many other companies where trading in the at around half of $100 and many in the single digits. There are many others. VMW also was not nearly the financial behometh it is today and now that they are in info security, well wow. Back than at the end of 2008 revenues were $1.9 billion and now they are around $5.2 billion. They also have a huge amount of cash of over $6 billion on hand compared to its debt which is significantly less than that. Many people thought that other companies now trading in the mid 500's to over 1000 should have split there stock. its a good thing they did not listen. I think splitting the stock would be a very bad idea. This time I believe this will be over $200 within a year, perhaps even higher. We will see.
I agree. Looks like the stock strength is softening though... possibly due to closing positions for bulls at end of the week in light of sanctions on Russia? Seems totally unrelated...
dude or dudette, i am me nobody else, if u recall i still own 20% of my oringinal holding, i am happy for those who stuck it out, i say split , cause this stock in particular has a habit of doing this hit a cnote then go back as quick as it got there... big problem with VMW is it never hit its all time high of $125. after it went straight down to $19 afer the problems with overall market back in '08...
Firms typically give their clients 3-5 days to cover their margin calls. Some times, the firms just cover the calls if the margin calls reach certain limits. Check to stock price changes, you will notice that the deadline for many shorts' margin calls are just around the current time.
"....Indeed, according to NASA, extreme weather now covers 10% of the world versus 0.1% to 0.2% during the 1950 to 1980 timeframe. In past missives I have mentioned some of the companies that can assist businesses in planning for extreme weather. One of those companies is VM Ware (VMW/$102.83), which is covered by our fundamental analyst with a Strong Buy rating."
This stock has been flat for a few years. There isn't much profit to take.
They, the shorts, said that at 95.
This stock will be in 140s this year.
Pendulum swings both ways. Gotta make $$ in either direction. Beware of sharp gains, folks are bound to take some profits.
