Samsung to launch Z1 Tizen phone in India in January: Report
NEW DELHI: Samsung's much talked-about Tizen OS-powered phone may finally see the light of the day in January, according to a new report.
Samsung's Z1 Tizen phone (SM-Z130H) will be launched on January 18 2015 in India, according to The Korea Economic Daily. The publication cites a Samsung official to corroborate the information and quotes him as saying that the Z1 would not cost more than 100,000 Korean won (roughly Rs 5,700). The phone would be sold online as well as through physical retail outlets, the report adds.
An earlier report by a Korean business daily, had suggested that Samsung would hold a press conference on December 10 in India.
Interestingly, Samsung has already detailed the features and specifications of the phone at a retail partners event in Mumbai. According to pictures posted by Mahesh Telecom's Manish Khatri on Twitter, Samsung Z1 will sport a 4-inch WVGA (480x800p) display. It will be powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 768MB RAM and will come with 4GB internal storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card.
The dual-sim phone will feature a 3MP fixed focus rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. It will support 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and A-GPS connectivity options and come with a 1500mAh battery. The Z1 will run Tizen 2.3 and come with Tizen Store app marketplace for downloading apps.
Samsung had initially planned to launch a Tizen smartphone in Russia in the third quarter but scrapped the plan. The firm said at the time that it wanted to further enhance the ecosystem behind Tizen. Only a handful of devices, including the firm's smartwatch products, currently run on the platform.
That would seem like a logical purchase for them, and one that has a real payoff unlike some of their other moves. It would be a big move into social for them if they did that.
That doesn't surprise me, I predicted that would be a flop back when it first came out. People dont want cellphones strapped on the side of their head.
thanks.... investing is a lot of fun... I like to chat and make a little money too.... I have no problem being wrong.... I have been on these boards for a lot of years... Google is all of those things that you say... only problem none of those things make as much money for Google as ads and search.... a few years ago when everyone was bashing Apple because of "margins" and the iPhone being their "only" product etc.. the stock got crushed... Google is in the same boat... the difference is "Wall St." likes Google.. they have always secretly hated Apple so it was easy to "turn" on Apple and bring the stock down... Google's a little tougher to tank... $500 was/is a major support level... I personally think the stock will hit $450 before it hits $600... but isn't that why we invest? thanks for the feedback.. good luck... if you make a couple bucks off of me.. send it to me a donation via PayPal!!
Thanks man. I read your posts. You got a good theory on Google.
And congrats on the recent $500 Put winnings.
Got lucky three days before expiry or simply great prediction.
But if you win the new Jan 2 expiry $500 put - luck's no longer in play. It's sheer talent. Good luck.
I'm betting on google crossing $600 in 2015.
For a number of reasons, but if they were not working on self-driving cars, or fibre access to every home, or maps, or glass - the company could create a linkedin in 1 week (google pro), facebook in 2 weeks (google party), a priceline in 3 weeks (google travel), a netflix in 4 weeks (google showtime), amazon or alibaba in 8 weeks (google shop).
Google has the best technology to convert data to knowledge and the fastest delivery to customers. If you want a double in next 5 years - GOOG and AAPL are the plays. Buy and forget.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
