Product wise Cisco and JNPR are different in regards to communication companies that use there devices. Cisco provdes more products for the end users and some enterprise. JNPR is CLearly carrier hub transatlantic. Cell tower to Cell tower ussage. Devices in comparison a CISCO N7 Swich 50k$ JNPR Switch 350K$$
But you may be right as far as finacials go. I'm more of a tech guy :) I buy what I like BUY JNPR!!!!!!
So is this a buy or are they just going to end up owning all of the company soon? From a product standpoint, I like the products. They are most definitley wideley used throughout the dark fiber footprint and most carrier hubs around the world are using there switching for transport. Chances are this message is being transmitted through a hop or inter lata pop via a junniper switch. Tons of data transmitted everyday through the switches, no doubt about that.
I also like the CEO. Shaygan is a smart guy. He has already proven himself as a fixture at Verizon as there formal CIO, so there lies the friendship between one of the largest pipelines in the world that delivers data. I expect more and more carrier hubs will continue using there products globally as data communications is just growing and growing. More data ussage means BIG $$$ For Juniper. Another Play that comes to mind is SONS because they provide much of the submarine link to Asia and Latin America according to there latest press release.
SO when I read all the hype about Facebook adding more users you have to think about the amount of users big telcos like Verizon and AT&T are adding. With a solid earnings forecast from Verizon last week and FB adding more subscribers globally there definitley continues to be a huge market in the carrier hubs.
My theroy is communications in general is a HUGE PLAY with the potential of MAJOR GAINS as these great earnings keep on coming.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
On July 24, 2014, Juniper Networks, Inc. ("we", "our" or "the Company") announced delivery of the full $1.2 billion of shares under our previously-announced accelerated share repurchase (ASR) program. As indicated during our July 22, 2014 second quarter results conference call, we intend to opportunistically repurchase a minimum of $550 million of shares, in addition to the shares repurchased under the ASR, by the end of fiscal 2014, thereby fulfilling at least $1.75 billion against the Company's commitment to repurchase $2 billion by the end of the first quarter of fiscal 2015.
They had to be the ones today that kept the PPS moving up! Should total well over 35 million shares.
Riverbed Technology, Inc. Sees Q3 EPS $0.30-0.32 vs $0.30 Est; Sees Sales $285.00-291.00 vs $285.00 Est
Both FFIV & RVBD guided higher...JNPR out of "sync" with their estimate!
Gotta love how any uneducated parasite can get a Yahoo account. Did your parents have any kids that lived?
Last Q the stock dropped $1.03, $25.89 to $24.86, the day after solid Q results but poor Q2 guidance on April 22 and stayed in the 24s all Q after being in the 25s-27s most of Q1.
2Q Juniper Networks stated estimates on April 22:
“Revenues will be in the range of $1,200 million to $1,230 million.
Non-GAAP net income per share will range between $0.36 and $0.39 on a diluted basis.”
July 22 Actual:
Revenue $1,230 million, Non-GAAP EPS $0.40. They should have guided revenue $1,220 to $1,240 and EPS $0.37- $0.41 and the PPS would have gone into the $30s.
Now they reduce the guidance again for 3Q below consensus which they will again beat easily. Share count should be down significantly. These stupid games with the earnings estimates cost the shareholder’s a 10% decline and a loss of over $1.1 billion in capital value in 1 day.
All of these great IOP improvements by the new CEO and the PPS is now down for the year since he has taken over; all while the broader market is setting record highs.
Elliott needs to kick some buttocks!!! Time for a sale! Maybe to Nokia, they seem to know what they are doing: they beat this Q and raised guidance!
July 24- “Nokia surprised investors with strong quarterly earnings and raised its full-year profit margin forecast as network operators install more powerful systems to cope with surging mobile data traffic.”
Your numbers are way off. Cisco, not growing, sells 13 times this year and 12X next. JNPR sells 15X this year and 12X next, with obvious growth, a much lower multiple on revenues, has $2.6 Billion in cash, and is in the sites of activist hedge funds. The new CEO is top notch. And now a little dividend kicker. Yesterday's trading action was a classic manipulation so some big boys could buy a bunch of stock at bargain prices. I really don't think this will be indapendant too much longer, and a price over $30 will be a reality by year end. Keep an eye out for new SEC ownership filings and increased positions by some savvy hedge funds.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Don't know about $5 but it's going in the low 10s.
No US h/w company can compete with the asians. They simply can't compete.
How do you know ?
Anyway, to pay a dime/q for the 500mill. shares is another HUGE MISTAKE.
The company simply can't keep up with cisco and the asian companies.
JNPR has a P/E of 25; cisco has 17 and is the leader by far.
It's going to drop in the low 10s and be bought on a fire sale for the patents.
The future is in s/w ( including social media ). H/w is history....
I would never buy this company. I visited the company's and talked to several groups. After spending a considerable time talking to their purchasing group in Sunnyvale, I walked away with an impression of mediocre teams, very defensive to protect their jobs, totally unorganized organization. After that visit, I sold everything and stayed away since.
This is a up and down company which can't deliver consistent growth and earnings. Until there are better people working there with a true sense of urgency. I mean employees which can execute, think outside the box and not defensive, II would avoid the risk
Awesome. None of the headlines mentioned it and haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. This one was taken down to allow some big buyers to build a position. We will be over 25 soon enough.
FFIV Up 1% A/H
AT&T confirmed $21 billion capital spend for the year A/Hs ...Verizon CEO previously stated "The second quarter will be strong for us, which is an indication that the whole industry is very strong, and are continuing to see huge investment."
JNPR down 10% on 40 million shares trading...has to be a record volume, maybe everyone that wanted to sell, sold today. I suspect JNPR was buying heavily today. The can buy 35+million shares with $850 million.
Bet JNPR easily beats their reduced Q guidance that made the PPS tank today. Seems very suspect!!!
FFIV guides above consensus.
Sell the whole thing for low $30s/shr. Different CEO same old story and the PPS goes nowhere. Now down for the year while the NASDAQ is at a 14 year high and S&P is at all time high.
Elliott needs to kick some buttocks !!!
Are you stuck in it? Why NOK board is inundated with these JNPR blather. This stock ha been flat for over a decade. This is a dead weight, they might as well buy it all back and go private.
