The board of directors of Amkor Technology, the quasi-public, former leader in semiconductor assembly and test, has received the prestigious FOSSIL award from GASP – the Governance Association of Semiconductor Professionals. The award, sponsored by Fellows Opposed to Self-Serving, Insular Leadership, was presented “in recognition of the Board’s long-standing, abject disregard of its fiduciary responsibility to enhance shareholder value.” Amkor chief strategy officer Charley Brown commented, “Receiving this FOSSIL award in the same year as a preferred quality member award from the Merion Golf Club speaks volumes to the tireless dedication of Amkor’s board of directors.”
Going higher now. It should be 7's soon, likely next week. Let the understanding ANALysts come out with upgrades now.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Agree. All the positives from here on. This stock to go higher. I expect 8's short term.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Time line for this stock is still the same. They finally coming out w/$ that Korea consolidation (from K1, K3, K4 to just K4 & K5) will generate some cash . They have hinted this before but now with possible $ amount to help to cut down debt.
Ouch. Must be the positive AMKR momentum making you grouchy.
Yahoo shows revenue estimates for this quarter and next at 811m and 870m respectively. AMKR hasn't had a $750m sales quarter in over a year. Was there a contract win I haven't seen in the news? Any info is much appreciated, thanks in advance.
How can the market dwell on such a irrelevant little detail such as profitability when there are so many self serving POS longs that want the stock to rally anyway even as their profitability has suddenly vanished.
If anything there should be pay reductions for mngt's under performance since profitability has literally fallen off a cliff.
I always get a chuckle from your posts but usually think you go a bit too far but if you are correct that big pay raises are coming you are not only funny but right on the mark. Pay increases MUST be for performance as measured by earnings and share price growth. I hope the funds that hold large amount of shares agree with that and make their opinions know to management too. Pay raises when earning are forecasted to be negative are outrageous!
Amkor is rumoured to be giving executives big raises soon. Chief Strategy Officer Charlie Brown commented, "Public companies usually have executive management's interests aligned with shareholders. That's obviously not the case at Amkor, because the stock has been in the toilet for the better part of a Decade and the Board doesn't seem to care. So since we can't pay for performance, we're paying for loyalty."
possibly just a short squeeze in a rapidly rising US market ("rising tide raises all boats"). the market changed direction, and you are still battling short-term profits vs. global competitive advantages. we will compare notes at the end of the year - to see who is right.
by the way, there is an "opportunity cost" of your dead-money short $; you could just buy DIA or SPY ETFs and participate in the party.
