Amiibo going to backfire with fans?

    by a2rtius98h5 Dec 23, 2014 2:07 AM

When you make these kind of assumptions, remember that there are 50 Million 3DS users now, and they just released two new Pokémon games. Even if Amiibo sales go to #$%$, they will still have a brilliant end of year.

    NTDOY should acquire AMD

    by a2rtius98h5 Dec 23, 2014 2:12 AM

    We can dream.

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

  • AMD market cap is $2B. Nintendo should acquire them. Then they can say... hey, we're Nintendo, we're always going to develop our own hardware... in this case we decided to buy the competition... now MS and Sony have to use our hardware! Bwa ha ha ha! Can you imagine computers powered by Nintendo? Or scientific research about the universe being processed by Nintendo GPUs? Wow!

    Sentiment: Buy

  • Starting to hear the backlash through various channels about the severely out of balance pack-in ratio between characters like Mario and lesser known ones (Marth, Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Pit, Little Mac, etc...). Seems like less of a problem in Japan and Europe. Could it be the opportunistic scalpers in the US? Only time will tell. Issuing cards at a later date for the same characters makes sense so that functionality is there and those that don't want to fork over $100 for an Amiibo or don't want to have all the little toys laying around can buy them. When they issue cards they should be like basketball/baseball cards and random in packs... and it would be cool to have inserts signed by the creators of the characters!

My target is 15-16 by next earnings. Higher afterwards if they continue to engage the media in a positive manner... interviews, tid bits about games, new IP, etc... don't talk about next system... the press is eating that all up and there are really misleading headlines now associating the work on the new system as a result of the failure of the wii u... idiots! Companies must always be working on new product, regardless of their current offerings!

25 is not gonna happen. I would be happy with 16 by March at this point.

Great Buying Opportunity at current price

    by firstgenprotege Dec 15, 2014 1:08 PM

I don't know why it's dropping either. But it's going to drop even more today. 7974 (Nintendo's Japanese stock) dropped 4% last night. So NTDOY is probably going to be around $13 today. I've owned this stock for 2.5 years and have over 1500 shares and heard the same thing over and over how it was undervalued and bound to double or bound to get above $20 a share soon. Yet it never happens. Last January it did get to $19 and I was about to sell, but thought I would wait another week to see if it kept climbing. Then Nintendo announced their major WiiU sales revisions and the stock tanked. I would be happy with $16 at this point. Maybe positive 3rd quarter results at the end of January will make it start rising again. I'm just disgusted right now.

    Sentiment: Buy

  • I haven't the faintest clue why this stock continues to shed 1-2% daily but at its current price point ($13.53) I feel it is a great buying opportunity. All of these idiot analysts downgrading this stock have no clue about the actual video game market. Coming from a consumer who just purchased a Wii U and about 8 Wii U games (2x more than I have for my Xbox One) I can tell you this console is now worth owning and I have numerous friends who purchased one the past couple months just for Smash Bros alone. The Wii U has more console-exclusive A+ titles than Xbone and PS4 combined and any gamer who wants to experience all of the latest/greatest knows that they have to own either a PS4 or Xbox One AND a Wii U.

The Wii U console was sold out at the two Targets near me and my local Wally World....explain that one to me please? On top of that, they are printing money with these Amiibo figurines that are selling out at some retailers and are having a hard time keeping supply up. Oh and lets not mention the complete dominance the 3DS has on the handheld market...that console is incredibly strong right now and I don't see it letting up.

This company's stock price is officially at or near its low and when they report earnings in early Feb I expect it to hit 17-20 which would be a 25-45% gain on your investment. Get in while you can!! OR don't listen to this idiot consumer who has no clue what hes talking about (^_^)

    Sentiment: Strong Buy

Smash Brothers Wii U Europe & Japan

    by a2rtius98h5 Dec 5, 2014 2:52 AM

Smash Bros Wii U 1st week results in from Japan... Smash Bros Wii U sells 225k units, about 10% of Wii U owners at the time. Wii U sales doubled from 12k to 24k for the week. Not amazing, but in line with what Nintendo expected. I saw a reference though saying last year, without the release of any new games, Wii U sold 45k the same week. Now about Europe... ? And the crazy Amiibo prices for Marth and Villager on eBay!

If you believe it is valued low then it's an opportunity for you to buy more. Of course, if you are looking for quick gains then this stock might not be for you. I think you'll get minimal returns in the next few months... it's going to take continued good performance on Nintendo's part through the holidays and into 1st qtr 2015 before folks realize the discrepancy. But yeah, I disagree with the analysts too... their view is the money grab... not the sustainable view. On the other hand... Nintendo could do mobile... get new kids hooked, revitalize the folks that haven't played a nintendo console in many years... then release a new system and turn off the mobile spigot... or just make the games so much better than the mobile versions.
