google buys quality, that is why there is no interest in irbt
Google's purchases of "other" robotic companies. Google has a keen eye and the fact that they bought a bunch of robotic companies and did not buy this one leaves me unfortunately less encouraged. Google also has such vast resources, and their move into this space is a big competitive threat. I hope someone comes along and buys IRBT soon, -otherwise, depending on what areas Google targets, -this company will have some very serious competition soon at the least.......watching and waiting....GLTA

=== iRobot rallying as Google takes interest
Shares of iRobot were rallying nearly 3%. The company, which makes a number of consumer robot products, notably an autonomous vacuum cleaner, may have been benefiting from news of an acquisition.
Over the weekend, news broke that search giant Google acquired Boston Dynamics -- a robotics company that makes robots for the military. Although the product lines of Boston Dynamics and iRobot vary significantly, increased interest in the robot industry in general could be helping to support iRobot's shares.
iRobot upgraded to Strong Buy from Market Perform at Raymond James
Raymond James upgraded iRobot two notches to Strong Buy based on the new Roomba 800 and sales momentum expectations, and margin improvement from incremental Braava sales. Price target is $39.
You were Correct. The 880 series will set new all time sales records and market penetration as this remarkable machine literally runs circles around the traditional """vac-archaic"" Clean up after the job takes about one minute and my six year old did it.
Who needs google as IRBT in 10 years will dominate the home, industrial, and military market!
Sentiment: Strong Buy
That is just dumb as any responsible management would use that money for R & D and product development.
Thanks nom. Based on your post tried the 880 and it is super. Got another for my aging mother.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Google article title if interested, "IRobot CEO: Google may have bought Boston Dynamics for robotic package delivery"
Too Funny!! Go Colin :-)
""By the time that Google is delivering packages to the door, we would hope to be in millions of homes answering the door," he said."
Great 12-16 article in Boston Business Journal:
If Google and its Boston Dynamics unit becomes the specialist in outdoor robots, iRobot — which has sold more than 10 million of its Roomba robotic vacuums to date — is aiming to position itself as the top firm for home robots that handle more than just cleaning, Angle said. "By the time that Google is delivering packages to the door, we would hope to be in millions of homes answering the door," he said.
"The robotics industry is in the early stages of a transformation from a primarily industrial market to a dynamic technology sector," he says. "This is an exciting industry with a bright future."
Too funny, see what you mean, BUT can't be remember, in addition to the three laws of robotics, we know have Googles, "Do No Evil" to guide our robots actions. :-)
