"I am not paying more to have it, and while only a few use it, it saves lives and people's life savings."
The only people I have seen not paying more, in theory, are extremely low income, where other people's money is being taken and given to them in opposition to the Constitution.
And fifth time, yes for a few it may save their savings, but the same benefit can be obtained privately for much less.
I am not paying more to have it, and while only a few use it, it saves lives and people's life savings. The reasons for it were not capricious but good. Pope Francis would OK it. The work now is to get as many signed up as possible under the ACA.
"In the end tax payers lost $10B on the GM bailout. "
That is just the stock, there were grants and other costs, and yes what about the taxes. GM went bankrupt yet they retained $40B in tax credits, unprecedented in the business world.
GM could have gone BK in private and guaranteed would have survied much healthier and the government would not have lost the cumulative $50BILLION that Obama wasted of our dollars to buy himself votes.
In the end tax payers lost $10B on the GM bailout.
Or did they?
What about the taxes GM pays? What about the taxes GM employees pay? What about the taxes GM suppliers and their employees pay? What about the taxes the dealerships and their employees pay?
Then there is the circulation of the money generated from all of the above business activity.
If GM had gone under, the damage to the economy and social consequences of even more massive unemployment from the Bush/Republican Congress' recession would have been devastating.
The country reaped huge benefits from the $10B costs of the GM bailout. It was worth it.
Only fools believe otherwise.
"The point, doofus, is that financial ruin because of medical bills affects a miniscule fleck of Americans."
And the Obama policies will make a difference in a miniscule fleck of that miniscule fleck and the same end could be accomplished for far less with private insurance. It's a talking point for the non analytical.
Another gem from SemiAccurate....
Microsoft has driven off the cliff into the death spiral and rather than change direction they are trying to speed up their ‘momentum’. Endless reorgs, paid analyst reports, and flat-out lying to anyone who will listen won’t help, they can not succeed from their current position.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Another great quote from that SemiAccurate article.....
Everyone SemiAccurate has put it in front of has ended up buying a Mac or Windows 7 if that is still an option so it should come as no surprise that Apple Mac sales are more or less flat while PC sales are cratering. Coincidence? Microsoft sure says so but we doubt they believe their own PR.
So if Windows 8 is awful, the miracle fix of Windows 8.1 should change things, right? According to those IDC number the release of 8.1 did nothing to stem the bleeding, Surface has shattered a once solid partner ecosystem, and the company still has no Plan B.

"You didn't finish the alleged joke."
This is the Real Joke ... Another Hawcreek Alias - "Member since: Dec 9, 2013"
So why are you so frequently being drawn into these dramatic exchanges with people out buying Tampax and aspirin? Who is telling them you got sent home?
Best Joke Of The Year.........maybe the past 25 years.
Joke Of The Year.........for sure.
A doctor from France says: "In France , the medicine is so advanced that we cut off a man's testicles;
we put them into another man, and in 6 weeks he is looking for work."
The German doctor comments: "That's nothing, in Germany we take part of the brain out of a person;
we put it into another person's head, and in 4 weeks he is looking for work."
A Russian doctor says: "That's nothing either. In Russia we take out half of the heart from a person;
we put it into another person's chest, and in 2 weeks he is looking for work."
The U.S. doctor answers immediately: "That's nothing my colleagues, you are way behind us....in the USA ,
about 6 years ago, we grabbed a person from Kenya with no brains, no heart, and no balls....
Think about it. His decision to go into Afghanistan and then announce he is leaving is just as reckless as his decision on the Obamacare roll out. Which is just as reckless as lying to the American people about Benghazi. Which is just as reckless as his Red Line in Syria, which was a blowhards bluff. Which is just as reckless as his use of the Fed Reserve to spend 4 trillion to support the Obamacare roll out. Which is just as reckless as the 7 Trillion he added to the U.S. debt. Which is just as reckless as the 1 trillion dollar stimulus, as he laughs that there were no “shovel ready” projects. Which is just as reckless as his 1 billion dollar Solyndra fiasco, which he featured in a photo opportunity. Which is just as reckless as using the IRS to target the Tea Party – Oh by the way, how come there have not been any arrests since he was "so upset" about it at the time.
This is much more interesting than the useless, toothless obamacare
The point, doofus, is that financial ruin because of medical bills affects a miniscule fleck of Americans. Beyond it being against the law in this country, there was absolutely no reason for the federal government to take over management of the entire healthcare system for all Americans just to try and fix problems that affect 10% of the population (which it won't).
Make fun of Texas all you want. The thousands of businesses, doctors, and Americans who are moving here daily from the bastions of liberal lunacy disagree with you.
Catastrophic insurance was always available. If you had a house and enough to leave your children you could afford insurance. But you idiot liberals evidently didn't or couldn't grasp that so you had to go and screw up the insurance for everyone else.
How did getting millions of people thrown off their insurance help?
But then again, the young people that are getting the shaft now are mostly the ones who voted for Obama so that's quite fitting.

Windows has failed, PCs are dead, and the misery that is Windows 8 is to blame.
