If you are only going to do business with honest companies your challenge may be greater than Diogenes quest for the honest man. Are you aware that the majority owner of BK is a South American company? Why can't a SA company move BK to Canada? Apple pays about 20% in corporate taxes according to what I've read. They are avoiding the max corporate tax using legitimate means same as most mega corporations. What is the squawk with BK when every major corporation in the US is working at reducing their corporate tax? The benefit of this merger is to be determined. Long BKW
I will be traveling for the next two weeks on vacation and will make SURE I AVOID BK. Give your opinion with your wallet. When I go to Toronto again I will do the same to TIM Hortons.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Well, Burger King doesn't pay close to 35% tax. And the benefit isn't great for company like Burger King. But the CEO makes out as BK is paying his taxes for the inversion. Who wants to own or patronize a crooked company like BK? BTW, not long or short.
How about we fix it by reducing government spending and not requiring a 35% corporate tax bracket. Make politicians accountable for their campaign promises. Take away their benefits or at least let them pay for the same medical insurance the majority of us have. Let them get in touch with their constituents. This country is in deep trouble politically and the majority ignore it. Time to get off my soap box.
Get the US to TAX THE RICH like Canada does, TAX them heavy to pay for lower corporate taxes, better education, free health care, better roads and Lower Corporate taxes so your country will grow. I moved to the US from Canada, no sharing here, just low tax for the rich and miserable people like you. Get your stuff from China to have huge duties too so you make stuff here again like Canada still does.
Obama wants to fix this. It involves taxing the rich far more to pay for it. For some strange reason, the Republicans keep blocking it. I know they are great and out for all people poor or rich, NOT, but they don't show it. They say let me keep it and I will filter it down, honest,, I will, HONEST!!
because i am a real tax paying American... not a tax dodging burger loser. we will see in the long run that this was a BAD decision.
The same people who own Burger King also own BUD - AB Inbev. This was another company that used to be American and is now foreign. They fired thousands of American workers after ownership left for foreign lands.
now you guys are stuck with me on this board as I am converting all my THI shares to BKW in the merger and thats a lot
Sentiment: Strong Buy
come on guys, go with it, the units still pay plenty in taxes, no doubt that the US tax code for industries needs tweaking
Sentiment: Strong Buy
First of all they already have 3 bln in debt so they might not get as good of a rate in the market as you might think, although I agree they could get the insatiable to lend money for less than 9%. The other explanation is that the money Buffet is providing is through some form of preferred stock. This type of securitie I don't believe is accounted for in the same way as straight debt, therefore making their capitalization ratios look stronger. I mean with the amount of debt they are currently carrying they would probably be in violation of their current debt covenants were they to pile on this much more. Basically, the answer to your question is "Financial Engineering."
All the little people work for Franchisees who pay fed, state, fica etc. So the good news is the mother of four will still be getting food stamps, free healthcare, cell phone, section 8 housing. What she won't be getting is over 30 hours a week because the silly law punishes the business for that.
Its advert for people to throw their money in because buffetts name is now around bk
Ashamed, because he said he was not being taxed enough while he supported Obama and his ideas of higher taxes. Now he is avoiding taxes using a loophole.
