Thumbs up penthouse, sure is nice when we get a dividend increase.
Core holding for new retirees. .Its' defensive and steady. Must have.
Not just out of touch-profoundly out of touch.
Run a chart on two years vs. S&P - the market has spoken and it clearly does not support this once great company.
Also I think you need re-read my message carefully-there was no doubt there was going to be a dividend and most likely an increase. The problem is the ever increasing delays of announcements/timing. If they continue to keep moving the announcements and payments forward, they can eventually over time eliminate paying one entire quarters worth of dividends. Announcements and payments used to take place well within the "current" quarter. This "3rd" quarter is so outside the quarter I don't even think it can be called a 3rd quarter dividend-we are now well into the 4th quarter and delayed yet further than it was last year.
I maintain dividend announcement delays/timing game playing is not admirable-if you like it, enjoy. I don't like it, I expect and want more stability when I invest in a "quality" company, and particularly one that has not kept up with the market-even with dividends for past two years added back in -not even close to maintaining parity with the market. It might be a different story if this thing had at least kept pace, but it has not.
Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Kraft Foods Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: KRFT) today announced that its Board of Directors approved an increase in the company's quarterly dividend to $0.55 per share of common stock, an increase of approximately 5 percent versus the prior rate of $0.525 per share. This dividend is payable on Oct. 31, 2014 to shareholders of record as of Oct. 17, 2014.
Thank You KRFT, looks like I'm getting a new Samsung TV soon.
jmp8282, I just increased my position in Kraft late last month and did so partly in anticipation of another dividend increase, one I'm hopeful will be in the 5-7% range, which I believe is realistic. I admit, I am a little surprised it was not announced a week or two earlier.
Not a huge position in my portfolio (about 2.5%), but a stock I intend to hold for many years nonetheless.
What are guesses on the dividend increase - 2.5 cent increase per quarter or something greater?
Last year the raise came on the first Tuesday of the month, which happened to be the 1st. This year all dividend declarations have been on a Monday. Seeing as how the 1st of this month was a Wednesday one must logically assume the announcement will come on the first Monday or Tuesday of October, which is either the 6th or 7th.
It isn't really that hard to see the pattern. The board is following the same routine as last year; catering to you is apparently not on their to-do list.
These clowns clearly do not understand the investing environment of today, nor do they understand (or maybe don't care about) their investors. They are living in the past-another dimension where "king Kraft" once ruled-but no more. Investors have lots of options now, are very unforgiving and this is not sinking in with this crew.
They do not get or understand their investors and they clearly do not comprehend the "new" competitiveness for investor dollars. An investor in a safety stock/defensive stock or whatever it wants to be called, invests in that company because of a sense of reliability, predictive nature that gives the investor a sense stability. If a company then chooses to play games around announcing dividends, delaying and making investors guess, they are undoing a significant quality that attracted the investor to begin with. On top of that, with this outfits pathetic performance, they really need to get serious about at least respecting the investor with reliable dividend announcements, because as I say, the investor of today, with all of the options available to them, simply will not tolerate being played with. I am seriously considering moving-on and never looking back.
They could made their dividend announcement already and therefore distinguished the stock at this critical time and helped it to sand out from the general malaise that has taken over the market. However, once again they are behind the curve-waiting, waiting, and then wait some more, then wait just a little longer, now just another day, ok, ok all right (now the stock has fallen again and is really really behind the general market year to date-12 months annualized).
Finally the brain trust will make their announcement-and who cares. The stock has now been allowed to be so decimated that no good news (including the dividend) is going to make for lost time(ing).
Why bother posting this nonsense about tripling. Nobody is dumb enough to believe that except you.
