Pacific Crest Securities analyst Weston Twigg said the sapphire substrates GT is supplying to Apple are unlikely to be used on smartphone displays, as some have speculated.
"Based on our math, we don't think the new facility will be nearly large enough to supply phone screens for Apple, so we believe Apple is locking up supply for camera lenses, home buttons and watches," he said in a research note Tuesday.
"Possible end uses for the sapphire are to be determined, but we suspect the production will be used to help supply sapphire covers for Apple's new watch, which we believe will launch in the second half of 2014," Twigg said. Samsung's Galaxy Gear smartwatch has a sapphire display cover, he says.

Curved screen , Flex Screens, myself and kids got over 5 Smartphones, two tablets, non of it got a screen protector and we have no problem with the screens, the Glass technology getting better.
i believe Zagg may need to find a new product line-up as contingency, maybe Merge with other company in the PC accessories space or Digital home accessories
i been following many companies in the accessories space Like Logitech and Mad catz and both revenue drop in last Qtr compared to last year same Qtr
the biggest long term problem for zagg may lie in apple's investment in new technology that is 4X as hard as gorilla glass. they invested $500 million in a new plant that will produce the stuff, which they already use on the fingerprint sensors. once they cover screens in it, the need for screen protectors is much less. i have to admit that the bounce on friday must have felt good for investors. only question is whether it was truly a bottom, or just another dead cat bounce. game controllers should be introduced soon, will be interesting to see which company will get the lion's share of that business.
ga,a,a,t........meant that "the readers" finally got the message, after scratching their heads and thinking about the sentence right before " ga,a,a,t". have fun
Your assumption is correct. have more fun
PS: We still have several days of train passengers arriving.
BABA loves sentence.
I too have lost a lot which does affect my judgment. As you say though, we are the few without an agenda.
What happened these past few days was unbelievable. But we are fortunate to have BABA.
I rode it out, however I wish I had the opportunity and courage to double up.
It's still cheap. When it's back to $4.50 are you going to be wishing you had bought at $4 when it was cheap? Load up!!! :P
I really don't think Pedersen did anything special. Overtime the market gets saturated, people stop thinking they need a $20 protector when they get get something similar for cheaper, etc. Sales have gone down.
The only thing I can see ZAGG recovering well is if they open up distribution, get more buyers to counteract the lower sales domestically.
i cant figure out how will 4.5 million shares cover ? even if ever share bought yesterday was covering.. thats only 1/3 of the short position.. and seems the panic and fear selling is done.. so .. maybe the shorts are hedged with calls in case of a surprise attack on the upside

I think it's obvious that Hales' changes are not working and he doesn't know what he's doing! Pedersen may have been a crazy sum betch, but he knew how to grow sales!
I voted my shares against him for the meeting June 13. In fact, 42.5% of voted shares were AGAINST Hales. The stock closed at $5.78 that day. We have lost 34% of shareholder value since then. I think we could tip the scales and oust him if there is a vote this June if the stock hasn't recovered to $6 by then. Unless all the insiders hold enough shares to overrule the true shareholders who don't have their hands in the company's coffers.
Honestly though don't you think Hales is done at this point? Even if the stock recovers a bit, won't people vote him out this year?
Of course they have their own pockets in mind. But you can't milk the cow if it dies... so you have to nurture it and keep it healthy so you can keep giving yourself all the bonus milk it provides. That's why Hales said we'll get "SOME shareholder value" at the end of the call. Cuz he realizes if he doesn't prop up the price a bit, his cow will die and the teet he is leeching off of will dry up. I am awed by the confidence this man inspires. :P
