The arrival of Dr. Adam Carter to Oclaro signifies some type of strategic relationship with Cisco.
We will see how this relationship with CSCO plays out in the near future.
I no longer believe the company will get 1.6x revenue. Other, more recent sales were closer to 1x revenue. Therefore I am sorry to guess the price will be around $4.00 per share.
The recent announcements did NOT say the company was for sale. I said the company will be sold soon. I base that upon experience and pure guess work. They have disposed of all peripheral businesses, eliminated all debt, indemnified themselves, changed the way Directors are voted for, etc. etc. What more do you want? A public announcement via Form 8-K is the only thing left.
jdsu MKM Partners's Michael Genovese said Thursday the optics and laser unit could be merged with rival Finisar Corp. Genovese said a deal would improved the combined companies' ability to raise prices.
In my humble opinion the time has come. The flurry of filings that clean up the books and the announcement that a new indemnification agreement has been approved suggests to me that the end of Oclaro is near. I have no idea who the buyer is and I could care less. I wish the new owners best of luck since it will be stock swap deal and those of us that hold shares will be taken along for the ride.
Besides the purchase of EMKR, NPTN also pretty much announced that they would be posting a profit for Q3.
Both of these announcements might be seen as good news for OCLR, in the sense that:
(1) This may signal the start of a recovery of the fiber optic industry. (INFN's results also might point to a recovery).
(2) This will consolidate somewhat the tunable laser (e.g. ITLA) market, for which OCLR also offers products.
It would take a 70% move to get to $2.50. Only Alain Couder can make that happen.
This stock is really causing me to lose faith in OCLR. The way it has been moving, with deep dives (although the turnaround plan is really staying on track) on no news; the way it goes DOWN when the market is up, and the way it goes DOWN when the market is down. Seems we shareholders just can't catch a break with this one. I hope today's move is not related to earnings on the 4th.
We need good earnings, or someone to BUY this firm. I'll take 2.50#$%$ this point.....
That sweet little Frenchman with his cute accent would be a breath of fresh air on this potential billion dollar company, if you catch my drift?
