GLW completely tanked on me; luckily I came across Ultimate Stock Alerts (look for them in Google search) and found a winning play
I tried these guys and after my first week I am up 900% in gains. Ultimate Stock Alerts (search Google for them)
Oh, really? And where has the share price been going? Ever hear of a downward ski slope pattern? It merely uses its profits to add more stock options, as it is run for its big boys, not the shareholders in any sense of the word.
This "lousy company" ran a positive $3.6 billion cash flow in the most recent fiscal year, so I think the problem is all in your own mind.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I think there will be more opportunities to buy in at lower cost the next couple months.. way too many uncertainties in the world.. and the past 10% market correction was nothing.. been in this game a long time. Good luck to all.
Icahn and FCX, Buffet and PCP, Buffet and PSX, SLB buying --- smart money is showing that there are cheap assets. THe wave of purchases will create its own momentum. Assets deemed cheap will get interest for that reason alone. Premiums being paid are considerable speaking to both the level of interest as well as the value to future earnings. GLW should be on the list --- its cheap. ITs cash flows and margins are worth a lot more than $17. If major money moves in, I would look at a takeout well north of $25. CLoser to $30
Sorry about your losses, ac.
I use my emotions as a contrary indicator of what to do.
When I feel like barfing because of paper losses, I buy aggressively.
When I feel really smart and smug about making a profit, I sell.
It has worked pretty well- particularly at the market bottom, the day good old Mark Haines made his pronouncement about a bottom at that point. I was feeling nauseous at the time and went in whole hog on the beaten down beta stocks like FCX that day.
Who knows where this one goes from here- particularly with all the overhanging market risk, but I am holding and looking to add when the time feels all wrong. There is that safe divvy to consider.
When one invests in a company thats been around since 1850, why panic when it touches low territory from its 52 week high. Its up to the investor to check insider transactions to see that important members of the company have been taking their profits since February. Its not their fault they bought low and sold high. Now its time to actually look at the numbers and compare this stock to others in its industry and in SP500. Its starting to whisper undervalued right now. Look at the net income and 5 year growth its not a shitty company
Thanks for your taking the time to write this. I'm so fed up with this lousy company, I don't know if it is even wise to get back in if it falls. It may just continue to fall again. We'll see.
Well AC, having owned Glw for some 15 years, Ive seen about every bump in the road there is with this puppy. I'm obviously holding for the long term, dont get me wrong, I kick myself sometimes for not selling, especially this last downturn from 25 to 16, that hurts on paper, but I was also around for the 28 to 10 downturn. You see your retirement/investment vanish in front of your eyes in a matter of weeks, months. But if you believe in the company you add shares along the way. What most of us still fail to realize is that this stock is highly manipulated by the Street, 75% instituitonally owned. Yes the whole market has taken a hit lately, but Corning's sell off started months before. The Quarterly #'s were not that bad to get our #$%$ kicked. They took it to new lows for the year, they shook out the week hands, unfortunately like yourself, you sold at the worst possible time, not looking to rub it in at all, I feel your pain, but they bought your cheap shares. Never try to catch that falling knife. Dont get me wrong it could still hit new lows, who the hell knows, but I was confident enough to buy a little more. Thats what Ive done all these years, have not sold one share yet. Yeah, there were a bunch of companies that had I put the same money into those companies, i'd be sitting on a beach sipping Pina Coladas, but I guess I'm just not that smart, but what I am is comfortable with this company. I believe in the company, it's products, its future, hopefully the Street will reward investors in Corning with a fair valuation. Someday... Hope I have enough time..Good Luck

The News? On Oki smartphones using Gorilla Glass? I doubt it means squat. I've watched this stock have multiple days of news of new this, new that, new associations; and, each and every time, it has done NOTHING to move the stock. To the contrary, most of those days, the stock moved down.
I've lost a literal fortune by selling this worthless stock at the worst possible day possible; when it was down in the 15's earlier this week. Why? Because all technical and simply daily tape indications were for this to continue to drop, and I was running out of ways to try to start recouping small parts of my huge losses. But, no, this worthless cr-p all of a sudden rises 1.50 above what I sold it for.
Perhaps I'd be better off buying stocks worth buying, that go up. Look at the action on Facebook, Nflx and many other in many sectors.
Your idea of what, if anything, is happening here.
Me think all poster on board have &$%#@ for brains. Already told total global economic collapse come soon. Horrors untold await...
