All the catalysts for increased lithium use in the future seem to be
running in reverse at the moment ..
A "value play" that steadily drops in price while the rest of the market rockets upwards?
Must be more to the story?!
-ALB opens new lithium plant in Chile to service growing demand for batteries.
-Utility scale battery storage is only in the beginning stages with regulatory pressure expanding the opportunity.
-Growth in solar to boost existing Performance Catalyst and double as additional exposure to renewables.
-ALB is a value play at current prices.
TSLA announced 10kWh total battery backup for $3500 (plus installation I assume). It might work for a solar house in which the battery could be recharged during the day even if the power is out. It's way too small to power air conditioning for very long during an outage. I don't think it makes much sense at all without solar on your house.
Anything that increases lithium usage is good in my book.
I'm no rocket surgeon, but the key ingredient in all of these batteries is lithium and ROC is the largest producer in the US, with a huge projected shortage by 2020. You do the math.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
i believe prices for speciality chemicals are going are going up industry wide. future looks good here,i've been holding this a while.
Announcement on Thurs about TSLA's home battery system. Will ALB benefit? Another co also announced expansion into battery category. Will find the name
Sentiment: Strong Buy
AAWC justifies its buy rating as management confirms plans to buy IP portfolio in the engine sector. This adds massively to the company’s growth potential.
I wasn't overjoyed with Rockwood aquisition. Lithium is a solid play but rumors have it that new supplies will be joining the market from deposits in Nevada. Automakers will definitely want at least part of their supply from a very secure source.
Well, they announced that they were throwing a bunch of non-core business units up on the auction block - apparently they are desperate to raise some quick cash. In the meantime, the stock has kinda tanked since they started digesting the ROC businesses.
