Excuse me - when I said WS did 714 overseas, I meant ww.
And Guardians, through Monday, did over 280 domestically. It did great this weekend. It was down (through 3 days of the weekend) less than 1% compared to the prior weekend - really quite remarkable - I don't think that they can repeat that this coming weekend, but they are (to my surprise) a sure shot to break 300 million domestically, an approach 325 really remarkable. I am really interested how it will do in China and Japan - I'm sure Disney is too.
All-time record Parks attendance, U.S. and worldwide. Constantly sold-out giant cruise ships with more coming. Disney Channel record revenues. Disney/Pixar movies rule young kid demo. The world's children seem to disagree with you - strongly. Stay home and buy the stock.
I think you mean Guardians, not "Winter Soldier". Winter Soldier did about 714 overseas. And Guardians has done about 550 ww as of now.
I would suggest that Guardians has done even better than Disney's wildest dreams. Whether it breaks 750 ww is up to China and Japan. If they add 300 million, 900+ is very possible. But those numbers mean that China and Japan is just enamored for this Disney product, and I think that a total of 750 ww is more of a goal.
I think Disney is wonderful. The only #$%$" in its armor will be the run up to Avengers 2 - they probably don't have an other "Frozen" in store for the next 6 months, so comparisons might be difficult for the December 31 quarter - I have heard some "buzz" about Super Hero 6 - it may be more of an overseas hit than here, but nothing will surprise me about Disney. If this movie is a big hit, then next year will really be something special.
Guardians of the Galaxy earned 274.60 million, surpassing the 259,80 million earned by Captain America the Winter Soldier. THESE ARE PRESENT TOTALS, and will be increased with holiday earnings.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Do you remember when Disney RULED Sunday Nights? The Wonderful World of Disney dominated television all through the 1960's, Disney wielded mind numbing power over the American people. Until the people saw how deceptively evil the messages coming out of Disney were. They would take fairly tales or simple US History and twist it into some easily digestible, sugar sweet, Disneyfied concoction. And boy did that medicine GO DOWN. And you ask why mental illness is at all time highs in the US? Ask Disney.
And the crime you committed was buying into the Disney Hype that their lame amusements parks are relevant to your already wonderful lives. The wonder of animatronics just doesn't hold a candle to sitting in a Tesla or having an IPhone. Disney has LOST IT, it's a zombie corporation that has failed to adapt, it's a 50's nightmare personified.
And the competition for the dumbest basher goes on
Good entry by the way, a real shoe in.
I'm not even 40. Its a shame you raised such hateful children without any imagination. Maybe you should take the Ipads away from them and stop spoiling them.
Sounds like a class I took in college dealing with the psychology of Disney movies. Liberals on pot and ludes dissing Disney. Toy Story is Pixar, go ponder that Disney hater. Pixar is your former chain smoking no dead Jobs.
You are just a hater plain and simple, I know this guy need to talk to, His name is Ferris. If Disney doesn't put a smile on your kid's face then maybe they've killed one too many zombies. Good luck with that.
You're probably some old geezer with 40 year old "kids". Today's kids have IPhones and 3D IPads, what do they need with moronic Mickey Mouse. They look at Small World with disdain. The animatronics are a joke to them. Disney has not kept-up, when I say Disney, my kids say LAME.
If you have raised a total brat, maybe. Perhaps you should invest in parenting instruction rather than in stocks.
So what? In the meantime, one thing you can bank on is Disney. It will be here and making tons of money when Putin is dead. So what, after the European markets close---up goes the market. Also, yearly div for dis is coming up in the forth quarter. It's a buy now.
Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov attempted to dampen the escalating rhetoric around the Arctic, after his Canadian counterpart said his country was ready “to protect its sovereignty” in the resource-rich region.
"The Arctic shouldn’t be dragged into the rhetoric of militarization,” the Russian official said during a Q & A at the Seliger youth forum in central Russia.
