nyjet, well amigo, I'm on board with KMI, bought some today at $30.90. Thanks for all the info and ideas. The market still seems sick...up one day, down another. Looked to get some CNP, but may hold off as the trend seems to be down. Have you ever heard of WIN? it was the legacy land line business of Alltel...to make a long story short, they announced last July that they were forming 2 new businesses WIN and CSAL. I sold on the news at $13 and recently bought back in at $4+ range. It's been on a terror since then, nearly doubling in a month. It's fun to have things go your way once in awhile. I think I will start a new OT dialogue thread, this one is getting way too convoluted! lol Bob
Yes KMI bought out all MLPs last year and no K-1 to file. Personally I have ENBL and OKS that issue K-1s. The K-1 is not a big deal. Just get the right software if you do your own taxes. By the way another LP with no K-1 is MIC. I got 100 shares at the last SPO. Constantly raising dividend. July 2014 it was $3.80, now $4,44 annually. if you have more risk tolerance, checkout SFL . Good earnings and raising divs. No K-1 again. I didn't make any trades today. New month is not looking too good !! LOL
nyjets, I've been watching KMI and recently read an article on LPs which included KMI. It mentioned that KMI was actually organized as a corporation...so no pesky K-1 tax fillings to deal with...is that correct? Yeah, I will only get 4% on the Ford notes, but considering current conditions, I'm happy with that. Bob
Yes dividend payers are the way to go. Interesting that Buffet circled back to PSX. Utilities and Pharma are off today. F can be an interesting play, raising the dividend 10 cents a year in January in 2014 and 2015. I read a rumor that they might re-badge the Everest for US/Canada as a new Bronco. Plus bring back the Ranger. I did buy more KMI now at a 6% yield. New month, all the best.
nyjet, well the oils you mention have really taken off since your 8-27 post! I felt I had enough and didn't pull the trigger. XOM got into the upper $60s and was probably should have been bought. As I have gotten older(67 and retired) I have gravitated to more fix income, although I still have more than enough equity holdings(T AME BMY CLC GPC HPC MO PM oh and CNP, etc) I recently purchased some Ford notes paying 4.!%. I do own PPL and it's been a steady Eddie and recently spun off TLN. Thanks for your suggestions, I will check them out. Have a good weekend......Bob
I tried to snag some BP yesterday under $31, Did not fill. I am on the fence to buy more CNP. An article referenced CNP third party vendors not paying their bills on time and ENBL. CNP was under $18 yesterday when I read that article !! And it moved higher after I finished it so I got distracted.
Yes I have SO too. I like the deal.
I did buy some RD and GSK to average down. For some reason, I have been buying UK ADRs. Bought some SNN too. A CNBC talking "oil" head based in London ranked XOM a buy, CVX a somewhat buy and COP a hold. CVX had the greatest potential for growth according to him.
NGG is another ADR with a nice yield, I have been watching. And PPL.
That does hurt the Pack, hopefully Adams can stepup. However, when a team as a great passer QB like Rodgers, all you have to do is run the the routes. He'll get the ball to you somehow !!
Thanks for the dialogue and the sanity check in this crazy week. Hopefully Yellen not the Chineese will sneeze this week. Don't want to catch a cold !
nyjet...did you have the cajones to buy any of the oils you mentioned? I own COP and CVX, but only added to COP on the way down(and I'm under water). If, you can be sure the dividends hold, I agree, that at these prices(which have since moved up) , they would be a great buy! SO paid a large premium to acquire GAS. If TE gets any premium, I may have made a mistake selling). I may add to CNP if it continues to trend down. The loss of Jordy Nelson, will certainly put a dent in Green Bay's Super Bowl dreams.GL Bob
CNP has a 5.6% dividend at this price. What's not to like about that? The only way it should go down is if it can't make earnings estimates.
S&P has it as a sell with a price target of $18. Upside is very limited according to S&P. Lower oil and gas prices should limit growth for the enable share of the business. Other than that Morningstar still has it as 4 stars. However, the Morningstar report is not as up to date as the S&P one. It is likely it will recover as oil and gas prices increase so I would hold it. If it goes much lower it could reverse the S&P rating. It could be bottoming in the next few months. I think Credit Swiss has a higher price target over $20.
When the market goes up, it goes down. When the market goes down, it goes down. The only direction this stock knows is down. Spinning off Midstream did nothing for the stock. What is wrong with this company? Houston is a growing area so more power is needed.
nyjet, thanks for the thoughts. I heard the same story re: Geno Smith and his no-show. I will take a look at Harris Corp. I do own both COP and CVX and they sure have fallen. If they can weather the current oil "storm" and continue their dividends, they appear to be near a great entry point. I added some COP in the low $60s and was certainly wrong!
I finally got "lucky", I bought SPXS(which shorts the S&P 500) in the $17-18 range and have been selling those shares, which have risen as the market has sunk. Unfortunately, I didn't have the cajones to buy the amount needed to off set the loss on the rest of my holdings. Bob
Gotta do what makes sense. My cost average is bit lower than yours, $15.40. I'm going to hang onto TE and see what happens. Utilities are staying somewhat strong. I guess the market likes DUK and AWK each has been green in the sea of red.
I did average down on CNP @ $19.25. I'll just collect the dividend. Some big oils look VERY tempting XOM RD CVX and COP.
I had XLS which got bought out by HRS. If you are light on defense Harris might be a good one.
In reading some of the NYT articles concerning the broken jaw, Thats one way to settle a QB situation !! However, Smith did not show up to guys hometown football clinic after saying he would. Nor did he pay him back for hotel, limo and plane tickets. Plus the locker room was playing on IK. I would be #$%$ too.
The problem is that you're polluting the board. When you leave, the stock's price will skyrocket.
Good Morning...well, I sold my TE this morning. This should nearly guarantee an increase in price! LOL I bought at a good price($17+change) before the announcement re: the possible sale of the company. I guess I just got impatient and didn't want to lose my profit. May put the new cash into CNP if it weakens. Wow, Geno Smith sure has gotten off to a rough 2015 season. Bob
Houston has to be using lots of elec. now because of the hot summer. I can't figure out what is wrong with this company.
