SAP overpaid on every acquisition before they waited, on average, three years too late to make the acquisition.
John Chen, then with Sybase, screamed on CNBC for a "$3B check" for the sale of Sybase ($2B cap at the time). At that time SAP had already identified Sybase as a buy. Then SAP waited three more years and paid $5.5B for Sybase. SAP brought Ariba for $4.3B, three years after they had already identified it as a target. Then there was Sucessfactor......... These are views from an (ex) insider.
Grave mistake by letting talented people like Shnabe and sikka go.. These are technical guys who know how to run a Tech company/. SAP was and is a great co built on the backs of great tech guys after many years of sacrifice and hardwork.
Now the board has chosen typical smooth talking sales guy as CEO.. Lost their values as a German company and now will sink till it gets better..
Yes , earlier acquistions were very much in line ( Sybase, tomorrownow, BOBJ , Ariba Sucessfactors,Hybris, seewhy, fieldglass, kxen ,ticketweb etc and so many others )
8.3B is way too much for Concur in the travel and expense mgmnt vertical..Bill Mcdermot is more interested in his Hair style rather then anything else and now he isthe sole CEO making these skewed decisions...
bought cnqr at 35 cents. Another one was eqix, which i think was a 200 dollar stock at the IPO that went down to around 50 cents. i bought it at 55 cents, but being addicted to pushing buttons, i didn't own either one very long. LIFE is not about being $$$$ rich, but being rich in your love for GOD. It's a search that has to be ongoing until your last breath here on Earth....
why would you pay 8.3 Billion for a company with revenue of 178.4 million in its latest fiscal quarter - which equates to 800 million annual . Great deal for Concur, these guy's must be running out the doors!!!!
Sentiment: Strong Sell
You were prophetic (on the bad earnings report). Entry point??? There are probably more rewarding investments out there than SAP.
