Will The King hit it out the park with PBF?
HAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHHA..................Dang, I only have a little more than 3K shares.
Trade-Ideas LLC identified PBF Energy ( PBF) as a "storm the castle" (crossing above the 200-day simple moving average on higher than normal relative volume) candidate. In addition to specific proprietary factors, Trade-Ideas identified PBF Energy as such a stock due to the following factors:
PBF has an average dollar-volume (as measured by average daily share volume multiplied by share price) of $53.5 million.
PBF has traded 552,711 shares today.
PBF is trading at 1.87 times the normal volume for the stock at this time of day.
PBF crossed above its 200-day simple moving average.
'Storm the Castle' stocks are worth watching because trading stocks that begin to experience a breakout can lead to potentially massive profits. Once psychological and technical resistance barriers like the 200-day moving average are breached on higher than normal relative volume, the stock is then free to find new buyers and momentum traders who can ultimately push the stock significantly higher. Regardless of the impetus behind the price and volume action, when a stock moves with strength and volume it can indicate the start of a new trend on which early investors can capitalize on. In the event of a well-timed trading opportunity, combining technical indicators with fundamental trends and a disciplined trading methodology should help you take the first steps towards investment success.
PBF earnings were huge because Oil prices fell FAST and gasoline and diesel, etc., prices held UP so they got a GOOD DIFFERENTIAL price causing profit-margins to be good. I wasn't lucky.
PBF has been buying WCS and other Canadian oil that increased in prices that caused the stock to fall like it did because they were not getting a low enough price for it to make a good profit. But, clearly management has diversified its sources for oil and getting the best price for oil that is possible.........Who knows: maybe Canadian oil will start falling again whick will cause PBF energy profits to skyrocket again. Or Mexican oil might go down causing PBF to buy more of that. I think they have more sources and ways to get their oil which makes the company a better investment with oil down where it is. You agree?
This company is simply not being pushed by the street and retail investors do not know it. But there is no doubt that the report was amazing and that this company is a good value. Hold and wait for the world to realize. You are going to get a juicy dividend while you wait and one day there will be some serious price appreciation. Nonetheless, the analysts on the call all seemed to recognize the impressive performance, including the well timed buying of shares, and I will expect at least a few price or eps increases to be forthcoming.
The price of a barrel only matters so much here, as they are a refiner that makes a margin for turning that barrel into fuel. The business will work at any price for the raw commodity. What they need is demand for fuel to remain strong and to run at capacity. That is part of the reason it is so absurd that PBF fell so much in reaction to falling oil.
I did not listen to the call, but the published results were excellent. Some serious people own major positions in this company. It is a keeper and is steadily building value through buy backs and dividends. People on the East Coast have not stopped driving yet! Peter
They seem to be getting good prices for their crude to post those earnings since WCS and WTI differential didn't seem that good to me for this quarter. WCS is still selling for like $76/B.
Pretty positive and they confirmed what I had thought (i.e. they bought a bunch more stock in October, which they believe was an amazing deal).
