whatsinstore, you hit the nail on the head. "Low cost CEO". Remember all of the PR releases about his pet project? What have you heard about the wonderful "Home" unit lately? We heard quite a bit about the sales with some of the discount retailers, but how is the relationship with the leading electronics retailers?
It is a typical public company. It depends on market forces to succeed. Times change and companies that are not diversified will either have to change or face becoming obsolete in the past. Luckily for SMDM the old-timers still love karoake. There is only so much market penetration. They an try Asia where demand is higher but so are the fakes and anythign selling will be copied by a cheaper product.
Unfortunately, the relationship with the companys supplier and situation in China will not help this company any. As the supplier struggles so does SMDM. It's a symbiotic relationship IMO and I could be wrong. Excellent opportunity and resume experience for the young CEO to hold and the company wins as it has a low-cost CEO but what about Melos?
This is no longer a once of a lifetime company. This has been a company in decline looking for ways to stay alive and relevant. I thought alot about this company over the years and I can only value this company in a liquidiation scenario and its pretty close to where the stock trades. Imagine if G&A costs went up with real management? No revenues to offset. Atkinson and close-hold management is best deal for a declining business.
Some of you will say look revenues up. Are they? Look at long term trend. Good luck.
SMDM is not a typical public company. Almost 20 years ago, this was the once in a lifetime company to invest in. SM went into Chapter 11 and emerged as a company where fortunes were made. The stock could be bought at below current levels and reached to over $20 per share before a stock split. The difference between now and then could be summed up in one word, "Management". They knew how to market the product, how to get the message across to the public, and most of all, generate profits. They never had to put a spin on the company message. The "home" unit is just one typical example.
If they can deliver .03/.04 per share for year. Up and down for this company. PR a bit misleading...sent out machines that are digital compatible but how many more as compared to last year? What if all compatible does that translate to higher revenue due to downloads...please add...I can't believe no one has sold at these prices...talk about a love story!
i reckon you listened to the conference call..when asked about orders being put on the 2th qt. from the 3th qt., atkinson said that without giving numbers the current qt. was strong,if i heard correctly
CEO states that"current order vivibilty we have for the qt. ending in december,we anticipute continued sales growth compared to last year.." that was on the pr nov. 12
miles, you are correct. After a review of the company past financial statements show this to be one of the best sales quarters in over ten years. Unfortunately, the company put out a press release which states a "record", which of course, this is not. I don't see anything which states the company is "predicting another strong quarter". Do you have a source for this statement?
The .0289 EPS fell right in the range that we estimated. Let's see what the details of the 10Q reveal and we will adjust our model accordingly. Our year end model has SM now earning .035 - 05 EPS for the year ending 3/31/16 which should yield PPS of .35 - .50 [per share using a 10x multiple. Also interesting will be the company release of sell through information at the retail level during this quarter.
most of smdm's machines will be sold as christmas presents,so after santa claus leaves, they will be open on the 25th..we should get the bigger part of the download business in the 4th qt. making us a year round company..i like it

SMDM can in no way qualify to apply for a listing at this time. The requirements and costs are way higher than the requirements to REMAIN listed. Not enough capitalization (market value at today's depressed pps), and a reverse split would have to be in the order of 1 for 20. So I withdraw my efforts of attempting to list the company now. I was wrong, and don't wish to mislead stockholders.

The company is expressing enormous confidence from a fundamental point of view. Read their recent press releases.They should carry this confidence into the realm of a 1 for 5 reverse split, which would enable SMDM to re-enlist and apply for registration on one of the boards. Then maybe the pps will be up and away once again. We look forward to the Nov. 14th 2nd qtr earnings release. Let's have some clamor from stockholders!
conference call is schedule for november 12,,that would be a good question to ask..i would like to know the estimate of downloads....
