“The central bank is an institution of the most deadly hostility existing against the Principles and form of our Constitution. I am an Enemy to all banks discounting bills or notes for anything but Coin. If the American People allow private banks to control the issuance of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the People of all their Property until their Children will wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered. ”
The problem with Greece is that the books were faked from the very beginning and the EU was too stupid to catch it - of course Goldman Sachs assisted Greece in doing so.
The financial system was never healthy
As mentioned before other not so rich countries like Portugal and Ireland are paying for Greece -
and rich Greek took all the money out - tax fraud....and so on....the current leader is an arrogant, incompetent idiot elected by the Greeks - he promised them and now he can't deliver
Why is Germany a rich country?
Compared to the US there are almost no resources in Germany while the US is fracking its way to prosperity -
so it must be the (German) workforce
In my case, you are preaching to the choir. The Greek economic system is not sustainable in its present form. I have gotten to the point where I think that an indifference point has been reached between people in Greece that want to live off others and those that want to live off themselves. I do not foresee a favorable outcome for the Greek people and I hope that other European states are ready for an influx of starving Greeks.
I would like to see the evidence for this assertion. Normally I agree with you on most topics but I am not sure that I can on this one. I have no idea what Germans or anyone else were thinking when they set up the Euro system in the late 1990s.
But I can see that as it plays out, it is a struggle between financially weak and strong, which is what I would expect.
While Lincoln could go to war to preserve the Union (and its economic system) in 1861, Germany probably would not do that to keep Greece in the Euro. States like Alabama and Mississippi could never compete with New York or California in capital markets but for some reason the USA does not care. Yet Greece is expected to be a first class citizen with Germany in the Euro. So yes I think the Euro is enriching the already rich but how is that strange or unexpected on their part? The poorer states have problems and drift to Marxist "solutions" and Tsipras is becoming pals with Putin even as we write.
Weaker players are squeezed out; and again, how is this game theoretically strange?
I see it as a classic economic game of chicken.
The EU was and is a stupid idea.
People in America, most, do not even know that Canada and Mexico are on our boarders. The USA is a military super power and therefore will ALWAYS, bomb the shiiieet out of third world areas of the world that anger the Americans. After 9-11, the people in the Middle East, most, were laughing. There are tons of dead in their area now and the laughing has stopped. Looks like revenge has been accomplished. By the way, America is not bankrupt. Does the dollar look like it is in collapse? You wishing it does not make it so.
The person who is President at any given time is less relevant than the part that backs that same President.
The left backs the Dem and the right backs the REPUB.
The EU is a train wreck that will slowly but surely fall off the track. Who do we talk to when we want to talk to the head of Europe? America is a nation and you talk to the President. EU is not.
to ramp up the "We rule the world " attitude again. Everyone here should beold enough to remember over the last 40 yrs , the U.S. invading some place. I don't mean to sound anti, but the cost bankrupts THIS country. I just saw some pics on Bernie Sanders in Madison, "Let's help the people HERE, not the rich politicians." We're all sick of Clinton and Bush, look what their history is, esp. Bush. About the best amuzement lately is " Trump and the Mexicans."
When you want to send a message to all your management and employees, you start with some bin names being thrown out.
Andy Grove would have been doing this every year to keep the children on edge.
Yeah I have thought all of those things too, but the real kicker is that Tsipras was elected just to be a complete drama queen; and he is going to do it to the max even if it means trashing the very people that elected him.
Consider that dropping out of the Euro will allow Greece to monetize their debts; but at a price of shutting off overseas credit and result in hyperinflation that will destroy the pension benefits that he is ostensibly trying to protect. Tsipras is all bluff and he has been called in his little game of chicken.
He has lost the game and now wants an election to bail him out with his constituents, who will probably vote to stay in the Euro.
Wish her well on her new endeavors. That being said, this is a good time for Intel to revisit divesting the McAfee acquisition. Everything Intel needs from them can be obtained with strategic partnerships, and Intel is better off freeing up the capital.
