You are right it's not about the strategy anymore it's about the tactics. Do they go with a pan European one or with several local partners? There are pluses and minuses for both tactics. Eg if they get a pan European partner that could be the suitor because it must be a global BP. However, if that one doesn't perform there is no big royalty stream coming from Europe. This way the partner can suppress revenue growth to negotiate better buy out price. With several smaller partners the revenue stream has a good chance to take off well. However, this scenario makes a buy out by a global BP more complicated. Anyway how these tactics plan out I would expect to hear something within the next few months. IMO
Sanofi (SNY) signed up to help Relypsa bring its lead drug Patiromer to market. The treatment for hyperkalemia, pegged as a $1.4 billion blockbuster by analysts, was given the FDA's thumbs-up lady October 21, 2015
Taken in liquid form, patiromer is the first new treatment for abnormally high potassium levels in 50 years, Relypsa says. Hyperkalemia is common in patients with chronic kidney disease, and often crops up in those with heart failure and diabetes.
Under the two-year deal, Sanofi will put its kidney-drug salesforce to work on the launch, adding its Big Pharma heft to Relypsa's commercial team
"We believe this agreement will support a strong start for Patiromer FOS in the United States", Relypsa's
CEO John Orwin said in a statement. "Sanofi's experienced nephrology sales force can be mobilized immediately upon potential approval and, combined with our own representatives, will enable more frequent and comprehensive outreach to nephrologists and cardiologists."
Relypsa's 120 reps will focus on outreach to nephrologists, cardiologists and hospitals, while Sanofi will detail patiromer to doctors and practice groups...
dc48....What are your thoughts on the Sanofi/Relypsa collaborative agreement potentially 'blurring' a relationship between Keryx and Sanofi ?...
Correct! They will wait until the partnership deal is appropriate and will not take a lowball bid
kerx, during last CC there was no meaningful update on that PII ADP trial, it sounds like it is a little bit on hold, this is why I am not enthusiastic about jumping back in to ACAD right now, I sold at $41 in August, the stock to me is dead money right now, that company has good science and bad leadership
This topic has been discussed, cleared-up, and put to bed...
The company never said they would have a EU partner secured by year-end...What the co. said is that a EU strategy (not partner) would be announced by year-end - big difference...
Well, guess what, on the 3Q earnings call the company made good their promise that they would announce a EU strategy by year-end - Madison stated that Keryx's EU strategy would be to partner in the EU...
Soooo, that's it, the co's commitment to announce a EU strategy has been fulfilled - but that's the EASY part...Seemingly, the hard part is implementing the strategy by actually securing a partnership which, since EU full label approval of Fexeric over 2 months ago, has not been announced...When this will occur ? - your guess is as good as anybody's...
The clock is ticking and, to date, still NO CIGAR !...
