How can a company holding $2.00 in cash per share be trading for 50 cents? ANSWER: The short hedge fund naked short sells between 50% and 70% of the daily volume every trading day. Friday the percentage was 65.8% AND, they have deep enough pockets to keep a steady stream of negative articles being written about SandRidge. PLUS, a team of paid stock bashers both here and on twitter.
I'm guessing pretty dangerous? But what a dividend- sort of!
(Very effective use of capitals in that subject line, cleint9. Nicely done.)
Preferred shares suggests bk is imminent.
Sandridge preferred shares have gone from $102 to $10, and now back to $14. That's a 60% dividend if it were still paid in cash. Of course they quit paying cash and now pay with worthless stock.
sounds like you know a lot about the illegal short hedge fund activities. i was just wondering why the bonds are selling at bankruptcy prices. is it possible for the short hedge fund to naked short bonds too? just a thought, nothing else makes sense. thanks for the informative posts.
Bankruptcy, clent9? That joke is getting old. Standard & Poors just upgraded SD and on June 10th the company was loaned $1 billion, $250 million dollars until crude prices come back up. Today, Credit Suisse published an article calling for $70 crude by the end of this year. No, clent9, the short hedge fund paid stock bashing team is fooling no one with that old song and dance.
The longer oil stays low, the closer sd gets to bk. SD needs $60boe just to break even while maintaining production at current levels. In the 2q, sandridge energy realized $26.50boe.
SandRidge is an oil company and as such its' fortunes rise and fall based on the price of crude oil. To fully understand the effect of the short hedge fund and their practice of naked short selling 50% to 70% of the daily volume, consider the following. The last time the price of crude stood at $45.33 was on July 6th and on that date SandRidge closed at 70 cents a share. Now that the crude oil price has climbed back to $45.33 it would follow that SD stock should be priced around 70 cents a share. On the surface it sounds like a logical argument, but no, it ignores the effect of naked short selling 50% to 70% of the daily volume - every trading day. Soon the power of the short hedge fund will be broken but it simply has not happened yet
SD typically trades a few thousand share on any given after-hours session, even on those days when options expire. But, on Friday something extraordinary occurred. 6,356,411 shares were traded. And, 5,994,597 of those shares were trades that were made over the closing price. One has to wonder why the unbelievable volume occurred?
