In case there's any question, I'm being a bit sarcastic. Here's the headline:

Suggest what, it's Friday and no "good stuff". The big sell & buy must have been a smoke screen for shareholders, I guess, especially if you include spooky & all555's silly exuberance. But for him/them it's just a job, another day of touting & shilling on the internet.
why don't you play in traffic and let real people talk, you useless tout!
and oh yes, it's down again now about the same as when so many shares were sold -no gain or loss. so much for your silly exuberance
Is "bunky" a term of endearment? Never heard that term before...please explain? Sorry the price is up today...have any other bits of useless comments?
bet it's mutual funds shedding their positions
they are never fans of reverse splits, I wonder why? this one sure hasn't worked out real well....Right
you've been watching too many movies, bunky. there are no "clubs", people eat that their desks otherwise they loose a move.
looks like the mutual finds just wanted to sped their positions -not a good sign...
Once again the reverse split means nothing to the stock price so why do you keep bringing that up? And yes all our comments are conjecture and I do hope for something positive...if I was negative as you are on this stock I would move on...
The volume on Friday was extreme and we will see what comes up in the next few weeks...doubt we have many followers so I would not expect much follow through...only a drift downward as volume fades without news...
By the way Spooky2b is all about facts and his information very accurate; it is helpful on a stock that has little news to go on...I admit I post more on wishful anticipation...
Sentiment: Strong Buy
wow, all this conjecture and innuendo without a single fact other than the actual buys to support this. Sounds like touting at its best. I wonder what 555 or spooky would do if they really had some facts???
Oh yes, look at this "gem" today. No follow-through and no volume - guess it was just hype or just mutual funds selling for a loss before the reverse split, bobo - no surprises here
Thanks for the great information-the transactions seem to be on the buy side. I would think multiple parties (funds) adding to their positions. It’s always after lunch…often think someone overhears something at the “club” and gets back to the office and buys…Steel might be out pitching this to some funds. That’s a lot of what my friend does as an IR officer is go on periodic trips to pitch the company around the country…
I hope the increase price and volume the past few weeks indicates a good quarter (FQE 10/31/2014)…certainly if HNH is the buyer there are the ultimate insiders here, that can only be a positive…as to the possible sellers, a lot of folks buying at three just a few weeks ago…
Good point on the Sec 382 issues ad you are right about the window that will open up over time. There is also the NOL protection plan that the company has in place that could limit purchases.
One of the vote items is to incorporate the NOL protection plan into the By-laws…will this be the same plan or a plan favorable to HNH?
Sentiment: Strong Buy
If anyone's watching, the share price of Medifast took a $3 drop today. They released earnings yesterday which I believe beat the estimates, but their guidance for next quarter was below estimates. Also they got an analyst downgrade.
Who's buying AND who's selling? Both good questions. I've been attending to family matters and haven't had a chance to post much, but when I saw today's volume, I checked the time & sales. Here are some of the big blocks that crossed today:
11:53:00 $ 3.48 223,951
13:28:32 $ 3.51 359,100
13:30:42 $ 3.53 113,600
13:31:01 $ 3.53 89,800
13:31:57 $ 3.52 203,059
13:31:57 $ 3.52 46,341
The total is something like 1.04 MILLION shares.
First, assuming there was one seller, the list of possibilities is pretty short:
DIMENSIONAL FUND ADV. ... 2,735,421 shares
MAST CAPITAL MGMT LLC ... 2,185,176 shares
NEWTYN MANAGEMENT, LLC ... 1,902,000 shares
SCHNEIDER CAPITAL MGMT CORP ... 1,895,977 shares
VANGUARD GROUP INC ... 1,449,273 shares
BARCLAYS GLOBAL INV. UK HOLDINGS .. 1,440,338 shares
So it's possible that one of the above holders decided to dump some shares, but you'd think that would have depressed the market price. I guess it's also possible an MM has been accumulating shares for a big buyer, but I think you'd just see one buy in that case. So that brings up the question of the buyer's identity. Of course, the prime suspect would be the H&H/Steel Partners group. Recall their recent filing of MLNK stock purchases. I know the obvious response is the Section 382 restrictions on NOLC's . First, because of the issuance of the convertible notes, the actual percentage of H&H/Steel ownership has declined. More importantly, Section 382 specifies a rolling 3-year period on changes in stock ownership. H&H first started accumulating MLNK stock in October of 2011, so some of their initial buys (now around 3.8M shares) have now dropped off of that 3-year time frame. I'm by no means an expert in this area, but I'm wondering if the group may be taking advantage of the current low share price to up their ownership stake. The only way we'll know for sure is if we see a new filing next week.
