no, I bought this stock at $18 back in 2009 so I would have to say" yes" if your long term .
Sentiment: Strong Buy
The company has only existed as a public entity for 10 years and as an MLP does not pay a 'dividend'.
only the pipe and terminal
also they have no liability.
just another excuse for profit taking.
transmitting oil by rr aint going to stop however increase regulation will certainly be next.
how this will effect profits at this time we dont know
gel still a powerhouse with great management
Does Genesis own the train and or railroad? I thought they only owned the destination terminal and pipeline.
You are absolutely right on the CC and the Q. But from my perspective I love results like this quarter's. That GEL made a step change in GEL Marine by buying the Hollenbeck offshore barges/tugs and ordered more barges is IMO a great move...and jumping into more RR unloading facilities as well as bringing the leased RR tankcar fleet to 500+ units is terrific....and bringing on line the newest desulfurization unit is a good addition to that side of the business. The second half of 2014 will see solid DCF gains as a result.
Each night I listen to the sweet sound of a train passing near my house. At least 100 Trinity Industries-leased (TLIX) Genesis tanker cars pulled by a Burlington Northern train on a Genesee & Wyoming-leased railroad to a Genesis transloading facility in Walnut Hill, FL. That amounts to close to $7 million per train. Forget about the Keystone pipeline. I think more and more crude oil will be transported by rail because logistics demand it.
The crude oil transported to the Walnut Hill, FL facility comes directly from North Dakota. An endless stream of oil transloaded from tanker cars into a pipeline connecting to the Shell Oil refinery in Mobile, AL. I am aware of Genesis' plans to start another transloading facility in Louisiana. I am also aware of their operations in the Houston area, Mississippi and Wyoming. I would like to know more about GEL, GWR, and TRN. I do like the sweet sound of that train.
ake as usual couldnt have said it better.
in addition may i add please notice the new operations being opened in louisiana ,the home of gel.
if memory serves me correct shell constructing a large chemical plant there as well as several others building in that large water way complex that empties into the gulf.
and who may i add will service some of these new huge complexes logistic needs.
imho it will be gel.
the rich will just get richer.
so everyone relax and drive over to akes home.
hes serving the cold ones and lighting his bbq.
ake by the way now that i have 3500 miles on the beast best car i have ever owned.
and that includes my benzes, porsches etc.
simply love the car.
good investing to all
IS GEL's business going to be affected by the shutdown? Sure. Will it be affected a lot ? No. Will the distribution. Be cut? No. Will the distribution go up? Yes. You have to understand that GEL's business is basically support of Gulf Coast Refineriies which make Diesel fuel, gasoline, jet fuel etc. and right now the Gulf Coast refineries , the biggest refinery complex in the world, are making tons of money and many are sold out. The reason is exports. Today, those refineries are exporting more refined products to South America, to the Caribbean, to Europe etc than is imported. And aith the inexpensive crude oil from the USA and Canada that GEL brings into these refineries via RR tank cars, barges, and tanker trucks the Gulf Coast refineries can kick butt in Europe and anywhere else. On the USA side, some 800,000 us govt employees are on furlough. In a nation of over 300 million people most of whom drive cars using gasoline GEL's crude oil logistic business will hardly be touched. 70% of the USA commerce logistics are by trucks burning diesel fuel. You going to quit eating during the shutdown? Let's laugh! GEL's crude will continue to be converted into diesel. And vegetables, steak, potatoes,Budweiser etc will be trucked to a supermarket near you. You already know that the 1.4million military folks are continued to be paid as are the guards at 115 Federal Prisons. Air Traffic controllers are working, too, as are the border patrolmen etc etc...and social security checks will continue to flow, I hope this answers your Q. In conclusion, go to the frige, pop a Miller Lite, and say, "Thanks,GEL" we are all going to score BIG with GEL!
Ignore previous question. Just read the news today Oct 1 shows the market is still normal.
