For those marking thumbs down, what are you disagreeing with? That IOT is over hyped and the likes of Cisco are really trying to convince customers to implement (Cisco Live & last weeks IOT World Forum in Chicago as examples) or that SWIR doesn't need to report strong growth in Revenue and EPS in Q3 & Q4.
All I'm saying is that SWIR can't say " just wait for our numbers a year from now" when it reports in Nov.
Interested in feedback.
i totally agree with this...I'm long SWIR like a lot of people here, and i think IoT isnt just hype machine - its happening now and will certainly be how things operate in the future, there is no question...Sierra needs to "show us the money" and hopefully their cloud linux stuff is gaining a lot of adoption to warrant $30+
Sejss, I think you touched on a nerve based on the thumbs down responses, but I tend to agree with you. It's time for SWIR to deliver the results to justify the recent move to $30 as well as any move higher. I'm counting on it or else we sit in the 20's through the end of the year.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I believe their upward guidance of 15 cents EPS and revenue of 140 million will be met and that SWIR will leave the 20s behind for good
"AT&T, which is the No. 2 wireless carrier by customer base, added 2 million customers in the period, driven largely by its connected devices business, which includes 500,000 connected cars."
"785,000 phones & tablets while adding 1,215,000 connected devices (embedded modules)"
IOT is the most over hyped discussion as you can find dozens of articles daily on the subject. And yes, there are many examples of it being implemented across the world.
BUT....until SWIR produces and guides to the hype with Revenue & EPS, we won't see the next leg up in the shares. And why is that? Because IOT has been hyped as the next big thing for 5 years without meeting the expectations.
Looking to earnings, I don't want to hear more about design wins and future 12 month to 24 month projections. because these design wins take that much time to produce revenue. Based on the belief that IOT deployments are happening, so better the revenue and ESP growth for Q3 & Q4 guidance.
SWIR's partnership with Philips city touch system controlling lightning in cities, benefits could be huge. Also, SWIR's integration with Verizon's network removes the need to be connected to wi-fi in order to do things on
the internet. The ability to collect data remotely, and connect different devices with each other and with companies, has enormous implications for optimizing efficiency in business. As this market grows, more innovative applications for M2M devices and software are turning up, which means more opportunities are being brought to Sierra Wireless.
Sierra Wireless technology is in everything from your Nespresso coffee machine to automated scrolling billboards to the San Jose Police Department. Peugeot Citroën uses Sierra Wireless M2M devices to find out how its cars are running and discover any design flaws that may arise so that those issues can be directly relayed to manufacturers. The Seattle Fire Department uses Sierra Wireless InMotion to keep voice, video, and data communications open on multiple networks, eliminating the old radio system that was used. Now they can upgrade without having to overhaul their whole system, and the communications have been extended to their vehicles.
The bottom line? The uses for this technology are showing up in places you would never expect, and the industry is only gaining momentum. Sierra Wireless investors should see their shares gaining momentum as well
They reported a good qtr....do they compete or sell product to BRCM? Hopefully this is a nice barometer of what is to come with their next earnings release.

The Smart Grid has the potential of $5B+ in revenue for Sierra Wireless globally. This award is nice, but the bigger opportunity is looking at the judges who represent some of the largest utility companies in the US. PG&E, San Diego Gas & Electric, Duke Energy, Florida Power & Light, and Commonwealth Edison.
Any Smart Grid OEM looking to win business with these 5 will be looking at SWIR as their supplier.
I think you're smoking something...or shamelessly pumping.
They will probably be snatched up, but not by CSCO...too expensive for their MO.
Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR) (TSX: SW) today announced the launch of ..... Sierra Wireless to connect new remote lighting management system for smart cities .... For those unable to participate in the live call, a replay will be available until .... open source foundation with built-in connectivity, security, and management.
Cisco news release talks of a joint effort with Sensity Systems to use their multisensor platform to create smart citizens and city operations services as a foundation for Cisco's City Infrastructure Management software. Is this direct competition with SWIR's smart city efforts or is SWIR part of joint effort supplying embedded modules??

I'm no chartist, but my emotional tolerance for SWIR's rapid roller-coaster moves has led me to sell. I usually maintain a disciplined adherence to 25% trailing stops. The first time I hit my stop on SWIR a couple of months back, I risked ignoring it because of the company's story regarding its outlook. The result was good, but now this week I've hit the stop a second time. Somebody out there with more influence over the price than me either knows something I don't, or is erratic enough to irrationally move the share price around - either way, I'm too uncomfortable with the trend to continue.
