I hope whomever has been quietly accumulating MXWL over the last 4 or 5 weeks knows what they are doing.
Long time holders have seen price action after earnings calls and it has rarely been pretty.
Vist their site and Sign up to TOP MARKET GAINERS dot com (just enter the url in your browser) and watch their next few plays. I have been impressed so far.
Microelectronics provided 7% of their income which sold at "attractive profit margins". While it enables them to avoid borrowing cash in the short term it will have a negative effect on their earnings and margins going forward.
This was the key to prevent further dilution, which is yyuuuge.
Also is a proof point that they're executing their strategy and that their new CFO is competent.
Stock's gonna test 7.50 - 8.00 again now.
they won't need any more ATM dilution, not for a long time. Great potential for 10-20X Gains. I'll hold, and add if given an opportunity.
Biggest thing is tangible proof they are executing on the strategy. Perhaps a PR on the consolidation prior to next cc. If not, look for confirmation and definitive guidance at end of qtr./cc. All good.
This was discussed in last Conference Call. They expected this to close first half of 2016. Right on schedule. They are streamlining their operations. They are also consolidating into one manufacturing plant. which should be complete (was suppose to be complete by end of Q1) .
All part of their restructuring. Looks good.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Not a bad thing.
2X Sales could indicate sale value of rest of company.
$21M a plus, lost revenue a minus, worth 5-10% pop in pps.
Streamlining operations? maybe.
Most notably, could eliminate National Security objections to a buyout by a foreign (Chinese) company, and they're paying generously for U.S. tech acquisitions nowadays.
From the Purkeys website - CAPS is powered by an ultra capacitor and small AGM battery. It can perform multiple jump starts without being recharged. They say portable since it has wheels and a handle to wheel it around.
Purkeys’ Capacitor Actuated Portable Starter (CAPS) is a portable, safe, and easy-to-use jump starter for heavy and light duty applications, said Charley Gipe, Purkeys sales and service engineer.
“The reason that CAPS can be so portable is because we are using an ultracapacitor to provide power, instead of heavy batteries, generators, or gas powered engines,” Charley explained. “The capacitor can store a lot of energy and charge rapidly. But it can also discharge rapidly, which is what is needed to crank that engine over and get the vehicle started.”
The CAPS gets its power from a Maxwell ultracapacitor.
“Inside our ultracapacitor we have our own, internal dc to dc convertor, which can make that charging happen fast,” said Jeff Brakley, Maxwell senior business portfolio manager.
The ultracapacitor may be the heart of the CAPS system, but the control module is the brain. Everything that happens in the CAPS system is regulated through the control module. This smart controller is what makes CAPS safe and easy to use. It protects against reverse polarity hookup and will sense the amount of energy needed to jump start the connected vehicle.
The quick charge time and portability of CAPS means fleets can jump start multiple vehicles faster than ever. CAPS can quickly get vehicles back on the road, where they belong.
As best I can tell, Maxwell offers a 3 terminal product that is a factory installed option.Extra wiring required. Ioxus is offering a 2 terminal after market product that is a drop in replacement, no extra wiring required. According to the Maxwell installation Manual one has to run two new wires to the starter and extend the alternator wire to the battery pack instead of connecting to the ground wire on the starter. ...
Thats not what they claim----"The goal of the uSTART system is to provide the vehicle with a start, no matter the condition of the existing batteries or external temperature. If the batteries run too low due to accessory loads or aging Lead Acid batteries, the operator can press a button to enable a jump-start mode, thus allowing the capacitor-based system to collect energy from the batteries, and the uSTART system will provide the energy to get the vehicle's bus voltage up to 12.5V, then provide the power the crank the engine and start. " -----Since you brought up the button, is it true the Maxwell product requires external wiring to install this button. I recall reading that OEM's using the Maxwell product are doing some "pre-wiring" to accommodate the product. This seems to imply some extra wiring is needed to use the Maxwell product while the Ioxus product with it's built in button is truly a drop in product..
It means that the Loxus product would drain the UC during housekeeping loads and could lead to needing a jump to recharge it.
Wouldn't that difference make the Ioxus product more practical and user friendly?

S.Korea's SK Innovation to supply EV battery cells for Mercedes-Benz
SEOUL, Feb 17
Feb 17 is the day MXWL price plunged from 6.5. they have a joint venture.
Anyone on the MXWL board think we will get automobile related news in the next 3 months (to maintain relevance with 2017 Chevy Bolt and 2018 Tesla 3 news). Use of Ucaps to differentiate the offerings would be huge. Combined Li battery / Ucap hybrid module news?
