Most manipulated STOCK of the YEAR.. The First Hedge out is already selling little do his friends know.thx for playing.
Funny how the HEDGE boys pump up this thing. Colorado #s up. BUT lets not talk about LAKE TAHOE where you are getting HAMMERED.. SALES HAVE GOT TO BE DOWN 80%.. WHERE IS THE NEWS MTN.
OR are we just going to skip over this one... SEE YOU AT $40 .. Thats your real price. SHORT THIS HERE AND NOW.. Hedge have already dumped a ton of stock at this DIRTY WINTER..
Revenues are up by 9.3% and recent article in vail daily reported an increase number of visitors from forest services estimates. Could it be due in part to a great snowy year vs last year?
from reading the exchange between jeep31169 and midwestfabs, maybe jeep31169 a native from CO, has an opinion on the increase traffic and continued snowfall.
At abasin so far this year (please remember there are still 12 inch s in a foot, that hasnt changed for centuries)
October: 4 in = ~.33 ft
November: 60 in = 5 ft
December: 53 in = ~4.4 ft
January: ~6 in = ~.5 ft
Total snowfall this season ~123 in = 10.25 ft
November: 38 in = ~3.1 ft
December: 77 in = ~6.4 ft
January: 5 in = ~.4 ft
Total snowfall this season: 120 in = 10 ft
If i were making these numbers up it would be one thing, but those are numbers compiled by weather forecasters and meterologist.
You stated of skiing in 29 inches of fresh snow that fell b/w december 20-23. You posted those numbers here. On the yahoo forums. If you dont remember posting such a statement search your own post, hint it was on dec 23.
That would equal to ~2.4 feet.
May i make few recommendations if you truly live in CO:
1. stay away from the herbal pharmacies
2. If you do live in CO, crawl out of the hole you have been living in and open the shades.
3. Go to your local library and check out 'using google for dummies,' read, pay attention (if you can follow recommendation 1 above. Once you feel comfortable with the idea of search for total snowfalls abasin, vail, etc. hint you might bump into onthesnow dot com or snowforecast dot com. Read, learn, comprehend.
4. Actually use the links i provided, if you know and think are capable of accomplishing that basic task. Read and comprehend.
5. If you followed my first recommendation maybe it will stay with you.
Enjoy the snow if you know what it looks like.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I live here. do you want a picture of a claimed 25 inch snow fall?, 2 years ago they were sending pictures from Boulder and doing reports at the tunnel, the Denver news busted them.
159 inches 13' 3" yeah right. You bet 41" base. Read the A-basin snow reports on the computer those are the real ones. Keystone gets twice as much snow as the Basin.
Teach me how to do math I will be happy to send you pictures of reality.
jeep31169 if you are curious as to the season totals so far vail has received ~159 inches of total snow this season. my first response teaches you basic math skills. enjoy the powder as it continues to fall over the rockies.
well lets do some basic math. as of december 24 day i posted this a total of 52 inches had fallen just in the month of december that would equal ~4.3 feet. december 24-31 an additional 25 inches, that would equal to ~2.08 feet. now you add the 52 inches to the 25 inches of snowfall that would equal to 77 inches of total snowfall just in the month of december. divide that by 12 (inches in a foot) and that would give you ~6.4 feet of snow in the month of december.
since we are now in january and when i looked at your response vail has received ~10 inches of snow. once again add 10 to 77 and that would equal 87 of total snow from december 1 to today. divide that by 12 (again total inches in a foot) and that would give you ~7.25 feet of snow.
now those numbers are approximate of course since determining total snowfalls to the exact measurement is not an exact science.
After the dividend payment record date is reached Dec 29 (paid Jan 12) it's time to sell and wait to see how much money MTN loses again next quarter. If they can stem the losses somehow it may be interesting again, but the recent acquisition was a big money loser as well - so have to wait and see if the powder turns to gold...
summer revenue don't matter.. it's ski. Ebitda is the thing here, because of high depreciation. stock should trade arround 95, and it's close. next year to 110. this one's no game for bashers, my friend.
There were also shares traded at 91 and 90. Looks like a profit taking down trend.
Expecting the unfilled quote of 84 to be filled on Monday morning.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
We are at all time high of $91. I sold all my shares at 90.90.
Last year, the stock started tanking after earnings announcement. More down side than upside.
Plus, the City Park acquisition is likely to increase costs, and widen losses. I am surprised to see how we are able to trade at high P/E even though we are not a growth tech stock.
I am OUT and wont be back IN till this baby consolidated to 80 at the minimum.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Small public company just gave birth to 10 mill shares and has a total float of 14mill. IPO was priced at $9 a share and they own 13 resorts. Sounds like they plan on being a yr round operator with alternative activities that don't require snow .Thats what MTN needs to do so they can even out the 2 horrible quarters against the 2 incredible ones they have each year. Maybe add some indoor water parks and or outdoor ones like they have on the east coast that the private ski resorts have done. Our PE at 111 is nose bleeding and the depreciation and good will on the balance sheet is increasing . The low float is what keeps us up but at this price I can see some new shares being sold and pay down the debt would be the best use or invest in the properties for year round operations.
Season pass sales end today, we shall see if they extend or if the goals were met.
A week late start for opening, but 36 inches last week, 5 last night.
I have been out 4 times this year and there definitely seems to be tourists, lots of rental skis, and paper tickets for early season.
