Lost about 3% today on the shares, but I think I'll hang on to them until July 7 to receive 0.72 ¢ per ADR. If I'm lucky the shares will be back above 10 by then.
Premium on the ADR side is only around 6 - 8% right now, whereas historically it has often been in the range of 12 - 20% on average. Seems undervalued, based upon that historical precedent. It also didn't jump while other Russian equities did, check OGZPY or SBRCY for comparison.
Well done. I decided I'd skip the dividend, sold out today near the high. With taxes, and then by the time div is actually paid (sometime between Jul 7th - Aug 11th) the stock could be a lot higher and pricey to reinvest the div, I figured I'd take my chances getting in cheaper tomorrow instead, I want to accumulate shares, don't need a dividend stream right now. Might work out, might not.
Should open between 9.11 and 9.21 and pop from then on, back up to $10 for 4th of July! mark my words. This is a great stock and will have my order in at 6am! Good Luck to us all and have a happy July 4th!

Mechel trades at an even higher premium to the underlying Moscow shares. Premium is persistent over the years though, so there must be some reason to explain it.
That thesis panned out. Using OGZPY (Gazprom) as a reference point, this jumped much more than Gazprom in recent days, playing catchup to the overall Russian market. I can imagine this kind of mispricing takes place often here, providing an arbitrage opportunity, but I haven't followed this stock long enough to know for sure.
Current premium stands at 10.5%, still below historical norm.
Difficult to say, very 50/50 which direction it goes next. My hunch is that it may have to go down a bit further, but not by much.

Iran deal isn't happening yet unless it turns into a surprise agreement. Greek deal is probably priced in already.
Let's hope that an Iran deal on the 7th isn't isn't going to ruin too much of MBT or OGZPY.
Analysts seem to be in consensus that ruble is heading to 60 regardless, with debt repayments being extra high in July/August. More volatility ahead.
