Compare listings --AWAY has twice the number of listings, with a legit business model. AirBNB skirts tax man in many venues, causing huge problems.
I hope someone takes them out who knows how to run this type of business like Priceline. I have a vacation house on their site and they are like dealing with a insurance company or bank. Totally inept and clueless !
If you have a problem at a hotel-- ie elevator goes out, bad smell in room, A/C not working correctly, everyone assumes that your problem was a one-off experience. However- when someone writes a bad review on VRBO people usually say --- "ugh!, I'll just stay somewhere else" They dont usually assume that it was a one-off experience because the owner may just choose not to fix- it and they will be out their money up-front, and have to haggle with a potential wing-nut for a solution. No one wants to get into that situation so they dont give the benefit of doubt... AirBNB on the other hand, holds the money until both parties have become satisfied. But they have another problem---tax avoidance by property owners.

Might have to look into opening a position in Homeaway. Can i get any suggestions on what other people are looking at specifically at this company before I begin my own in depth research?
sorry to burst your bubble but not too many people go on vacation with 4 couples. and if they do its with 5-8 kids. sounds like you need a bigger house to rent.
I have an RVBO and it is doing great. I sold the stock but watch it closely. We have a 4 bed 2 bath that sleeps 8. High season price is $395 per night, big deck, BBQ, hot tub, etc. That's about $100 per couple. Sounds less expensive than a good hotel to me.
no that's ok i have seen the site and i think that the home away from home is more expensive. be more enthusiastic about it you sound like you are not into it that much.
That is my point. If all you have is a 400 sq.ft. room to return to after seeing the sights, what kind of fun is that. We rent VRBO's all the time; it's great. Plus, depending on how many people are in your party, it can be less expensive and more relaxing. You should try it; a home away from home.
a bed? is that what you want on a vacation? i think vacations with family or no family is about going outside of the 400 sq. ft room and enjoying it. plus many hotels have 400 sq ft rooms with beds sofas and everything a house has so i don't understand your point.
