I will not be renewing my downtown Atlanta property with VRBO. They are killing the golden goose and airbnb is increasing advertising and fees for renters are more reasonable. I am very happy and satisfied with airbnb. VRBO isn't user friendly and the outrageous fees is precisely why WALL STREET will eventually collapse!
It is an awful idea! I work hard to keep that beach house something HomeAway would be proud to list!
I was told that if i did not turn on online booking my house would be less likely to come up in listings. I will not be controlled by this company! I like the interaction with guests. I want to know about their dogs-breed, behavior so i can approve them first. We pay them to advertise on their site!
I am with you Turbo,
I am up for renewal and I don't think so~ I had a chat with a supervisor. They are programmed to tell us what a benefit it will be to both parties- WRONG! Look up Sharples salary, I'd be happy with 9% of that! If the average rental for y beach house is around $1000, the service fee is $89 to the renter! My renters have had no problem and if they have any questions at all, they call me. "Like where is the corkscrew?"
I'm a homeowner and rent my log cabin through Homeaway. Like you I've been very satisfied with renting my place through them. Today when I received a request to book my cabin I couldn't believe their extra $31 fee. Part of this fee is for the commission for the renter to use their credit card even though I don't use that service; customers pay by check. That $31 is just for a weekend rental, and it goes proportionately higher the longer the rental. I wrote to the company. Undoubtedly renters will hesitate to rent because of this fee and they say it'll help increase rentals. Who thought of this idea, and who else thought it was a good idea???
