I visited a local stand alone Sears today. It is a large good looking store. But there were very few shoppers.I would say there were more salespeople than shoppers.I actually intended to make some purchases, but I can't bring myself to buy the exact same items that I can get 3 miles down the road at Target for 20% less.I think that is the primary problem at both Sears and K Mart.Target,Wal Mart, and Home Depot sell the exact same items for a lot less. The way things are now ,I don't think the retail operations of Sears and K Mart can be saved under current management. They just don't appear to have the skills to turn it around. It is possible that the real estate makes this a good investment.I've seen it happen before, but that was in a time when there was shortage of retail space.Right now ,if you look around you can see a lot of vacant stores.I think it would be a shame to see Sears and K Mart disappear.I still think they could be saved if they got somebody in there who understood retailing.I'm actually tempted to buy some shares from time to time, but every time I'm going to,I walk into one of their stores and it changes my mind. That being said ,the share price seems to hold up fairly well despite losses, that would drive any other stock into the single digits so maybe there is something there that I don't see.I don't really understand this stock.
and I have a hard time believing your are even alive and your parents didn't abort you given you obvious brain damage.
i have a hard time believing your even employable given your negative attitude
I'm not sure but keep bashing because i make a lot of money with this stock, it seems to be inversely correlated with your negativity
I thought you were going to take a 6 month hiatus from posting here? That seemed like a good idea to me.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Could not agree more. This company has the most screwed up metrics for their employees. Managers will walk sales if credit and warranties are not attached to certain purchases, and above that you wonder where the motivation is to focus on sales. This month let's focus on SWYR, credit, warranties, surveys, etc. Very seldom is there a consistent focus on growing the top line. Smoke and mirrors all day, all the time.
Sentiment: Strong Sell
Ty will have you spend a dollar to save a dime. Spend 20 minutes looking for a .99 item To these clowns this is "operational excellence to drive profitable sales" . Now the fact that the DC is ALWAY OUT of merchandise really doesn't mater. But why should it, at the end of the month Eddie is granted another 12,624 share. So basically in one month he makes what 500 of your average Kmart and Sears workers make in a year. And this for a leader of a company the loses over a BILLION a years. So if you are Long, good luck, because one day Eddie will anally rape you just like he anally rapes his employees now.
Usually i would go with the minority but if you look at the longs of billionaires ackman needs to cry. I wish Buttett would settle this. he knows.
You can't win. The real impediment to Sears' s success is the fallback plan. The kind of commitment Amazon and others pursue is impossible in an environment where the thought is "If this doesn't work we always have the real estate.
what are the assets ?
in the real world the assets can't cover current liabilities !!!
there is an assumption that the "ghetto's" will bring a premium dollar , hasn't happened, and not going to happen
at fire sales you get even less
all this while they continue to loose $$
with no plan in sight
Did you hear ?...Allan is going to be a director for GOOGL................LOL
how do you spin off something you don't own ??
they don't own the buildings , the business doesn't make $$
just what exactly will be spun off?
the locations suck, in case you haven't heard , they are in the same dying malls as Sears
Odell is not a plus for Sears , that is actually a negative , he has real knowledge
they would need some unknowing idiot to move into the auto centers , maybe Rocket, or Kmartz can buy them ....LOL
