11k new Ting Subs was number provided by management. My numbers suggest they will blow right past that estimate. Looking for 13-15k. Mark it down.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
I had never heard of tucows until this week. My small business' website is affiliated with them and i googled the company to learn more. I'm BLOWN AWAY!
Previous posts have mentioned this stock being worth $26... that's lowballing the heck out of it. This company is literally firing on all cylinders making incredible financial decisions. I would not be surprised to see it double from here by the end of the newly announced buyback.
Elliot Noss seems like a great leader for the business.. I love how invested he remains in the company... $10m worth of shares is quite a bit for such a small company.
What downside do any long term shareholders on here have to say?? Any negatives with the way things are currently being operated?
It's clear you don't know much about TCX. They are #2 in Consumer Reports for 2nd year in a row. Their customer service is hands down better than any of the companies you mentioned. Churn rate is in line with industry norms. Noss has commented numerous times about MVNO model as it relates to Sprint & TMobile. They are good for those companies and the relationship appears to be symbiotic & strong. As for earnings...they have hit their #s for the most part. They have two analysts so how why are you basing their performance on hitting numbers that only is being predicted by a few people. Revenues & EPS are up big YOY. Just sit back and relax & watch as the story unfolds. This is a solid company. Solid management & the ROI is strong. I wouldn't short TCX at this price...you'll get burned.
Is this Noss? What Zulu said has a point.
Are you scared of facts or something? Look at the past 5 to 6 quarters and tell me if TCX hasn't goofed with their EPS or rev in the quarter. I was a holder since TCOW days. However a lot to be excited about a service that they are renting pipes over and don't actually own. Are the subs really Ting's or T-Mobile / Sprint since they own the pipes. What happens when and if TMO or S decides we want a bigger cut? Doesn't this cut into their margins?
This quarter this had growth of 5% in Ting excluding the one time sub from Ptel. Yet they continue to buy the EPS and disregard R&D besides "Ting Internet". Is the stock worth a 35x p/e when you have the market with many big caps trading well under that. Either TCX needs to exceed these estimates or continue to buyback shares at a higher level so insiders can pocket and sell out.
They COULD gain traction with the retail sell throughs. However you have to remember they are competing against TracPhone, goPhone, Virgin Mobile, Cricket, MetroPCS. The list goes on and go. That's only on the physical retail side.
The co hasn't had a solid report in a while. They either miss on EPS or rev. And they haven't addressed their churn rate for Ting. And when was the last time you seen insiders buy stocks rather than prop it up for themselves to sell?
Savvy mgmt team with long track record of success. Stock trading at 5x EV/EBITDA mgmt announces repurchase plan to buyback 19% of company. If buyback is completed in 2016 as forecast, Guidance is for approximately $3.15 per share. If the company is successful with some of the new marketing plans, they should do closer to $3.30.
Ting Fiber won't kick in for 2 years, which is the longer term high margin growth engine.
Stock is worth a minimum of $26 today with a conservative 8x multiple.
100% recurring revenue and must have services. Low cost provider with strong customer support.
I gave up on short positions as an indicator of anything. Times have changed and traders can make any one day (e.g., January 15) look like anything they want. The days since the 16th could have looked entirely different.
Like you say, we'll see. One thing on our side is that, while the traders have few principles, this company seems like an honest one.
The TCX short position is significant. It would be fun to see the short position traders react to a positive earnings report today. The short position is around 12 days to cover.
