IBM is great for releasing blurbs about research projects that could be 20 years from practical mfr or use ..
* batteries that recharge from air
* super conductivity .. remember about 30 years ago , when there was a race to make superconductive
materials at practical temps ?? seems to have fizzled ..
actually , there are many offshoot things that come from these research projects and much learning ,
but to attempt to equate these things to revenues / earnings is futile at best ...
IBM needs to stop dreaming and start to execute in a manner that will please customers ... seems to me
as though they continue to make something , then try to convince customers that they need this as the
best solution .. g
IBM's invention of 10 atoms for 1 bit vs. the current millions of atom to store 1 bit is the beginning of an disruptive revolution of neno-technology. Image a world all uses IBM storage and its patented product. It's like 16 billions/per year * millions. The nuclear reaction will push the stock up faster than the rocket.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
These class-action lawsuits against IBM are a joke. All businesses; including IBM, have their ups & downs. It's too bad our legal system tolerates these nuisance-type lawsuits. I hope IBM doesn't pay out a penney to these shakedown artists.
garce , captain Ginny decide to "bring the ship around" while navigating the Fishkill Creek since it is now at high tide. Originally the ship was in the Gowanus Canal The electric eels have shorted themselves .
each of the two companies are dissimilar in many ways. In the cloud world there is an article today stating that the market is turning into private cloud services and IBM will lead in that sector with that trend.
I don't get the market. Amazon is trading at record highs... just announced so-called stellar earnings... but guess what... Amazon still had a net loss of $57.0 mill for the qtr ending 3/31/15. AMZN's share count went up to 465.0 mill. Yet Amazon's shares are up to $416 in after-hours. IBM, on the other hand, makes about $17/sh, yet trades at only $170. At some point, I have to believe the market will correct and IBM goes much higher.
Why don’t everyone trust these guys? They are awesome – 500% from my first two trades Ultimate Stock Alerts (search them in Google)
From a technical perspective, it's difficult to identify any major resistance until the $180 level. The reason for that being it is now entering into a very thinly traded area that is gapped down from October after a disappointing Q3 earnings report.
The above was from an article. I do not see much resistance until it gets to $189. IBM obviously has the clout to forge ahead as a leader in the new technologies and its awesome consulting business
I thought with Buffet buying at around $171, I was doing good buying at $161 and then IBM fell to $150. It feels good, now. It would be nice if the dividend was increase some.
This video game that used to be a stock market has become such fun since the Federal Reserve decided to run our country and our stock market!
Revenue is down because some of their business lines are shrinking and they are getting rid of others. They're getting rid of or ignoring their lower-margin and dying businesses and investing in their growth areas. This has been a cycle for several years. If and when this reverses the stock will do quite well. I think today shows that investors are anticipating that turnaround. It's essentially a cycle in the business.
