Good post, and quite correct. Microsoft is around for so long and its software is so pervasive that even when its software is not directly used, people end up using its ideas and methods. Consider Android, which violates a number of Microsoft's patents. MS derives about $2b a year from Android royalties (soon to become $8b year, oh my!!!).
You cannot escape the Microsoft tax if you are its competitor.
If you are a computer user, then of course, you derive benefit from the pervasive Microsoft software. You find that you cannot survive without Microsoft's software. (e.g. The government of China recently got upset when Microsoft ended support for Windows XP. Munich city government thought they could do without Windows & Office, only to find out after 10 years that they really can't. And so on.)
Yup. I've been all cash for a while now. No point in discussing it.. market is going to tank soon and DRYS like every other equity will be affected. Looking forward to buying the hell out of it once it retreats back toward the $2.70 target.
Idiot, we know China Rock, everybody knows its not going to make any upward movement until 20f, Dont you think China Rock and Bison did their own DD before hand and feel confident 20f coming soon...
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Good points, just not his post. It is copied from another board, credit goes to someone else. Still good to have it here...
it depends on who the majority senate leader turns out to be. There were Dems who voted for the #$%$-o Bill but Reid made it clear he would not take it to a full senate vote.
Check my math / google reference on this:
~160 watts / square meter solar energy hits the earth.
iPhone is about 2.5 x 5 = 12.5 square inches.
1 M = 1550 inches.
(160/1550) * 12.5 = 1.3 watts with a 100% efficient cell ( unicorn)
Typical cells are ~15-20% efficient, I have heard talk of GTAT and laminations to make multi layer cells up to the 40% range. So lets say best case, 40% cell gives us .4 * 1.3 = .5 watts. The charger that comes with the phone is 5v @ 1 amp = 5 watts. My Android phone comes with a 2 amp (10 watt ) charger.
Is this going to be actually useful to trickle charge at 1/10th the rate of the regular charger? I think for an iPad with bigger surface area, and more likelihood to be left exposed to ambient light it would be able to maintain and slowly recharge. A 9.5 * 7.5 inch iPad would get ~2.6 watts with a 40% cell.
I did not see any solid numbers on idle / standby power consumption for a phone / iPhone for use in calculating how much that .5 watts would be charging vs maintaining.
Whoever said $1,300 was the floor? I'd say it is more like $1180.
I am sitting on the sidelines seeing more weakness in price.. Vivint, ipo and new PV factory budget weighing on SCTY. SCTY dipping to upper 60's JMO.
Good luck stktdr1970 the force be with you !
I would sell and buy FEYE, DDD.
jaLovMaHardons , keep on keeping on
the least the can do is quell these rumors as false and that they do not comment on the movement of their stock at a minimum. Seems to me they are all freeking out with no leadership or backbone to put out a statement. Good Grief How pathetic. How sad. This only reinforces that a problem exists.
Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. agreed to push back the Santorini delivery on the condition that ORIG order two new drillships for delivery in 2017 to the tune of $1.37 billion.
That is what I call negotiating an exorbitant delay/cancellation payment.
