Yes, but was 9 weeks away, staying in decent apartments, all food, all trips, car hire, flights from London and 5 internal flights, so was quite happy with that amount, and loved spending in a way we never do at home. Seems a long time ago already, and wondering if there is still a sun over the UK? It's been pretty bleak and stormy, no let up in the rain, so would have benefitted from another month away lolol. Would not relish the journey back again though, 36 hours in transit from leaving the hotel in Brisbane to walking through our front door - sleep was not an option on the plane either, way too noisy, so watched TV and looked forward to food breaks to break up the monotony. Saw a great movie "Everest" - a true story and worth a look Moon, I won't say anything else about it. Tried watching "Minnions" but hated that.
Not keen on being back at work either - only 4 of my 48 year end accounts had been done, so good job the jetlag was getting me into work for 5:30am, and being Mrs Grim doesn't go back until tomorrow, I was able to carry on through lunch, and finish at 18:00, and after sorting out approx. 50 incorrect journals, am left with 2 to sort this week!. Also found out my Director has resigned, so our department in a state of flux now, real shame as she had been brilliant with me - ahh well, won't be too upset if a redundancy comes my way this year, but would like to carry on if possible to 25 years service in December.
Add Glenn Frey of the Eagles and Ed "Stewpot" Stewart to your list, seems Death has got it in for the entertainment industry.
FTSE has been all over the shop in the last week and all, can't fathom it at all. Saw that BofE think interest rate rise has been put back to next year at the earliest, and US might have to reverse their December rise already! Where is the cohesion here?
Pep to Man City - you must be worried! He will attract big name players. Utd are not the biggest team in the UK now, or the biggest in Manchester! Don't do a Liverpool!

The markets have been marvelous. Not a short in sight for me. Glad to see that you've made some money out of all the panic. We're overbought now but I'm still not going to short because there's too much money flying around and they're talking about the ECB chucking even more into the ring. You can see some of them on the iii board right in the doo dah and they're just hoping and praying this goes down to previous lows. Should have been buying at the lows, not selling.

Looks like Jax is doing well for himself. House in the suburbs and a flat on the harbour. Can't be bad. No wonder all those ladies are after him. They'll lighten his wallet a bit. lol

Looks like we're in for some snow up here tonight. It's been cold and frosty evry night for the last couple of weeks. My heating bills are going through the roof. Mind you, I have the heating on for my seedlings so that doesn't help the bills. lol Still, I'll have a lovely crop of bedding plants and veg this year. All grown by me.

Those longs came in handy. lol

I was livid with England today. To be so much in control and then nearly throw it away at the end was just amateurish. I was just thinking how improved England wre under this new manager and then they just fell apart.

If you haven't seen the X files yet....a must see. So funny.

I would have loved Leicester to have won it at Man U. That would have been brilliant but it was great the way Chelsea didn't buckle against Spurs. There's no way Chelsea were going to let them win that match. lol. I think everyone was a Leicester fan that night. I was watching the snooker but had one eye on the Chelsea match. Not that I wanted Selby to win. lol. Like you say, it gives every other team hope but I bet it'll be a long, long time before we see anything like that again.

Prince hadn't been well for a while. Just a bit under the weather. I wonder if it was a heart attack brought on by not being well? There are too many popping their clogs around my age. No wonder I'm getting paranoid.

I see their looking into the conduct of the same police force during the miners strike. They should look into the police during the fox hunting protests as well. Some of them are just nutters. You get them everywhere and the police are no different. You just need a few bad apples and it tarnishes the whole lot. A bit like Line of Duty. lolol.

I've stopped all spending now Grim. No 3d tv's or the such like for me.Looks like you dodged a bullet with the dvd player. I would have been caught with that as I'm not savvy in any of this new technology. lol. There's just nothing I want now. The house is all but finished, I've bought a new car and I can't even go away on a nice holiday because of the dogs. I'm going to have to start putting them in kennels for short spells to get them used to it. They just follow me everywhere now though and they always know when I'm going out and expect to go wherever I'm going. Taking them around the shops just isn't going to happen though. lol

I've got a bad, bad feeling about the FTSE. It just can't hang onto any decent gain. It's as if the big boys are driving it up just to sell off every day. I can see a big, big drop if BREXIT happens.

I was speaking to someone yesterday who was at the match on saturday and he said Sunderland were all over Man U. I don't think they can sink any further and it's only because of mediocre teams outside the top 4 that they are where they are. It looks like everyone's protesting about the cost of match tickets. That's been long overdue. £91 to watch a Chelsea match. It's just laughable.

Wherever there's money, there's thieves and scallywags. I hope they catch whoever took that voucher and make an example of them. If you can't trust people where you work, who can you trust. It was a good job that you and Mrs Grim were away at the time of all that happening. It would have been mighty stressful for her if she'd have been under suspicion.

I've been sorting stuff out for the arrival of my car on 1st march. It's all been registered, taxed and insured so I just have to pay for it when I pick it up. It's always exiting getting a brand new car even if it is money down the drain. lol. Still, I've been the poor man of the street for a while with my old cars but now I'll be top dog and will have to start looking down my nose at some of the bstds. lolol

The markets have been great. It's big divi season. Better known as bear hunting season. lol. The iii board is ridiculous for bear talk. Some of them must be getting their faces ripped off with the shorting they're doing. Like I say, the bottom is always zero but the top can be sky's the limit. We may not have seen the last of the selloffs but I prefer to buy all the way down from the top than selling all the way up from the bottom. Anyway, we need a bit of a pullback to get those daily charts back into a better position for the bulls. We're getting too overbought at the moment so a decent little pullback should see us plough ahead again. Knowing how this works though, it could be that most people have missed the boat and they'll have to buy higher up than they'd sold out for.

,Where are you going this year to see Coldplay? Not Paris I hope. Still a lot of trouble over there with terrorists. Don't they ever play in Jersey? everyone else seems to.

I see you're still going to your northern soul nights.Does Mrs Grim go with you or just you and her cousin? Make the most of getting out and about while you can because the older you get the less you want to do. I'm happy going out for a couple of pints and a couple of meals a week these days. When I think of what I used to do. It's downhill all the way from here.

I picked up my new car on Tuesday and drove it up and down the street a couple of times to make sure everyone saw it. lol.. It's a cracking little car though. It's not it's turn to go out until next Tuesday though. It was the roadsters turn today to have a run out and it'll be the other Audi on Saturday..They've all got to take their turn. lol It's daft having all these cars really but they're all paid for and the old cars still have plenty of life in them.

I've been doing a lot of decorating the last couple of weeks and it's coming to an end now. I just have to lay some laminate flooring and the bottom end of the living room is finished. The rest of the living room needs doing but I'm having a rest now and may start that in the summer. There's been a lot of chance in my house over the last year or so but it needed to be done.

My ladyfriend's dog had to be put to sleep on Monday. He was 17 so had lived a long life. I'd known him for 13 years. He'd been dying over the last coupie of weeks and she'd found it really difficult to make that decision but when I went through on Saturday I could see that he couldn't go on like he was any longer and I think she realised that. He was a lovely dog and a lot of people were really upset but his time had come. Mind you, I'm sick and tired with all these dogs dying. My two dogs and now him. It's just a hammer blow every time.

Ex-McCain Aide Will Back Clinton Over Trump

    May 3, 2016By Taegan Goddard103 Comments
Mark Salter, a former top aide to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), says he will support Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump in November as both candidates appear close to locking down their parties’ nominations, MSNBC reports.

Said Salter: “Basically, I think she’s the more conservative choice and the least reckless one. Trump’s policy views are like some drunk’s rant. If he tried to do anything like he says he will, we’d have no allies, a lot more enemies, and more of them with nukes. Finally, he’s unfit for the office, too, temperamentally and morally, a narcissistic bigot.”
