Wasnt so bad ? yeah it was a disaster. Their conference call wasnt so great. Their guidance sucked, all they guided was shipments and capacity which was pretty much flat. They dont seem to have much of a road map through 2012. An analyst pushed them on margin and they did say 2-5% for al1 2012. If it makes you feel better they said thats conservative. No growth and offered little hope for profit in 2012 and beyond. I just wonder how reliable TSL's guidance is with low teens Q1 and at mid teens going forward.
Good point about their share count... that does magnify the headline shock value. Nice bait for the swine. It is better to let it bleed out now rather than a slow painful news flow... i.e. TSL in early 2009.
None of this "news" matters compared to what happens down the road... for LT investors anyway.
stp was about as expected especially if one expected more end of year charges and write downs. stp's q1 guidance implies tsl may lead q1 shipments among chinese solars.
jks was just ugly since they missed their own guidance. they did a lot of inventory dumping at significant losses and despite being spot exposed, blended silicon costs were not that low. q1 guidance also weak. they bought back some debt but surprisingly no convertibles which could have buffered gaap losses.
