A recent article said that this is worth less than $2 if compared to the

oldest and biggest competitor since 1978 :(. Now I have to wonder why I bought some shares. I was banking on the hype and not the fundamentals. Come Monday, I bet I will still lose more :(

    • Have you ever heard of that other company? I haven't. If they have been around for 35 years and have absolutely no name recognition that should tell you something right there.

    • It doesn't matter if solar city's competition is a 1978 firm, Solar city's business model is really strong and efficient. You have to trust Lyndon Rive and Elon Musk with their entrepreneurial skills, at least Goldman Sachs does. The company is valued way above its fundamental value because investors and fund managers with a vision believe in its future and they probably believe that in the long run, the value of this stock would be much more worthy than it is now. Just stick around and hold it for the long term and trust me you will benefit from it.

      • You have to blindly trust Rive and Musk? What is this, a stock or a religion?

This stock is priced way above its fundamental value because a bunch of retail investors have bought into the hype and driven up a low float stock. Aside from the venture funds that have been locked up until Tuesday, there are virtually no institutional investors in this stock. Once those venture funds can sell, it will be ugly.
