    Already priced for BK

Your post is excellent, and your points are well taken.

I really wish that America could hang on to these type of jobs and not let this work slip away to low-wage countries.

I just don't see how we can stop it. A bolt - or a transmission - or a windshield-wiper assembly is the same - whether it is made here or in China.

The auto business is hyper-competitive, and our domestic manufacturers have found that the only way they can move the iron off the lots is to sell at a low price.

Look at the resale prices for US cars versus Toyota or Honda.... A ten-year-old Honda usually sells for more than a five-year-old Ford.

I'm not making this up. US buyers have voted with their feet. Detroit sold such a shoddy product for so many years that the only way they can now compete is to sell on price. The only way they can keep the price low is to cut costs where they can.

I'm not making a judgement here.....just reflecting the reality of the marketplace.

Actually it isnt. A bolt made in China is sold to us at a Yuan that is artificially pegged and made by an industry that is artificially protected by uneven and unfair trade protections.

The transplants have done an awesome job in capturing the market. But guess what? They are under the same pressures to continue to outsource to China. More and more content of all vehicles are going overseas.

This country is losing its manufacturing base faster than Louisiana is losing coastline....and we saw what happened there.
