Economy/Tonnage/Agreements Up. Lawsuit non issue. Stock is down
AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'M THINKING!!
This lawsuit is not about lowering AB wages. It's about the master agreement with Union. This agreement amounts to pay parity amongst those who agreed to it. And was formulated precisely so one company cannot gain competitive advantage. Otherwise why bother with it at all? Now YRC wants to weasel out of it. And UNION GOES ALONG? This is not to be taken lightly. A deal is a deal. You can't have it both ways
The court will determine the status, and as of this moment NOBODY knows what will happen
No one KNOWS if ABF signed onto the NMFA. You can google press releases from that time period that say they are not going to get involved in the NMFA. That they will sign a "me too" agreement. And if ABF was bound to that agreement, was it illegal for the IBT and YRC to agree to concessions for YRC'S teamsters. Not a single poster here knows what was signed and what it means. When was the last time anyone can remember the Teamsters being successfully sued for anything? Let alone for violating the very contract they helped forge?
Well, whatever they signed, the ABF, YRC, New Penn and Holland employees all voted in the original agreement together. The vote took place in the last couple of weeks in January and first week of February and the results were announced Feb. 10, 2008. Check the press releases on teamsters.org and tdu.org for 2008 and you will see that they all voted together for the same contract at the same time......
